    Default P55-UD4 overclocking.

Current System stats and Bios settings:

    CPU: Intel i7 860 @ 3.6GHZ
RAM: SuperTalent 4GB DDR3 Gold Series performance @ stock speed (1600mhz). (ones with the yellow heatspreaders)
Super Talent Technology - SSD Memory and Flash

    Bios settings:

    CPU frequency: 172x21
    CPU Vcore: 1.3V
    QPI Voltage: 1.25V
    System memory multiplier: 8.0
    DRAM timing: (auto) @ 9-9-9-24
    DRAM Frequency:1333
    DRAM voltage: 1.66v

If you need any more of my current settings let me know.

My system is currently very stable.

At the moment my CPU runs at about 40degress celcius on idle and 60-65 on load. I do have a very high end air cooler with one 120mm fan cooling the CPU. I dont know about RAM tempretures, but the ram has a heatsink on it, and I was told by the PCstore they overclock well.

What I require are exact changed to settings I need to make in my BIOS, so that my CPU is running at 4.0ghz and my RAM is running at 2000mhz+ and of course be stable :D

From benchmarks that I've seen, doing these changes, should get me a few extra FPS in games, and hopefully not too much extra heat.

Thanks in advance, let me know if you need any more info and lastly, is there a way for me to backup my entire BIOS settings so that if something goes wrong I can just add my old stable settings back quickly ?

    Thanks.

all you need to do is set bclk to give you 4ghz,set ram multi to give you 2ghz and raise qpi and cpu voltage a few clicks, leave cpu volt on 1.3 but set qpi to 1.35000 and test you can always lower later once your stable.

Well, see the thing is, a while back my system was having great unstability and I had constant crashes, so again my question is, how do I save my BIOS settings that they can be restored quickly, Id rather be safe before I mess with the settings, I dont want that instability again.

OK I donwloaded @BIOS, once installed I pressed "save current BIOS"

and it saved a p55ud4.bin file to my desktop. However if I download BIOS file from gigabyte the file is always .f4, while this .bin (my saved bios) still work if I need to get to get my settings back ?

There was no "save overclock thing".

I hope it saved the settings.

Ok, you are correct, I checked and the BIOS will update from the .bin file which I saved, if it has to.

Last question before I proceed, should I use the BIOS to modify the settings or EasyTune ?

always use bios to overclock as easytune is software based and will 9 times out of ten cause a blue screen

The BIOS settings you gave were no good.

    I did what you said:

Changed BCLK from 172x21 to 191x21 (effictive 4011mhz)
Changed QPI from 1.25V to 1.35V
    Left CPU Vcore @ 1.3V.
Changed system memory multiplier from x8 to x10, this changed frequency of memory from 1333 to 1910mhz.
    Left DRAM Voltage at 1.66V

I then rebooted the system and upon the Windows 7 loading screen, the system keeps crashing. It wont go past the loading screen. I then tried a CPU Vcore of 1.4V, but no luck. I reverted to my old settings and works fine again.

I'm think its something to do with the memory settings ??
