it will not hurt anything thats why the sticky pad's are raised so high as long as the metal plate does not touch you are allright

i have same block installed on my Gigabyte EX58 Extreme for almost a year now

Thank You for you fast reply
Would you think it would damage the chips when i tighten it up?
or act as an insulator and cause the the chip's to possibly overheat ?
I realy dont want to damage the board

it will act as an insulator
it might not even touch once you line it up i can remeber if mine did are not

but do not tourch it down only hand tight and tighten it diagonally

Do you know if the Swiftech APOGEE XT has the same problem
some of the guys in the fourm are using it on the x58A ud7
I wonder what did they do ?

I dont think the screws well be long enough "the threaded part " to catch the back plate chip + sicky foam + bracket then nut ?

is there a different back plate ? what do i do ?
    thank again for any help

i think youll be fine as the pads stop the metal from shorting on the chips,if its designed for a 1366 socket then youll be safe to fit it
