Default Anyone running Win7 with sleep mode working properly?

Just built a new WS with Windows 7 on the EP45-UD3R and I know for certain that all power management (S3) BIOS settings are correct and all my power config in Win7 is correct.

Now - the box will sleep correctly - if I press the sleep button on my keyboard - it goes for a nap immediately. However - I am running Windows Home Server and we have a backup run between midnight and 1:00am. This box wakes up at the correct time and backup runs correctly - but then the machine remains awake for the rest of the night. System logs indicate NO attempt to even try to put the machine back to sleep...

I have run power diagnostics for a week straight eliminating all possibilities...all hardware that could possibly be keeping the box awake have been disabled....I am truly out of ideas

Conversely - the identica board (with BIOS F10) is in my wife's machine running Vista 64 Business and her machine wakes and sleeps with no issues...so I am thinking that maybe the BIOS is a factor?

Or Windows 7 itself - which - with the more I read - is having "back to sleep" issues with many a user....

    Appreciate any comments..

    Cheers!

More proof that Microsoft is making you work at disabling power management options, users will have to open Show additional plans to display a third, High performance profile that shuts off the display after 15 minutes but never enters sleep mode.

I have read countless articles like this...and unfortunately this one offers nothing in the way of help. I always use the High Performance plan (all the others are simply lame to point of being annoying since I frequently leave the machine for a half hour) and have it on now.

And I have edited all possibilities under Advanced Options to ensure my machine is up all the time - unless I put it to sleep.

Are you saying that the High Performance plan is what's keeping this thing from going back to sleep? I have the identical settings going on the Vista machine (High Perf) and it wakes and goes back to sleep with no issues....

    hmmm....

I can run sleep mode if I click start. I point my mouse to the arrow next to shut down and click sleep. It works fine like that for me.

What I'm saying is When Windows 7 is set to performance mode it will default turn off display (15 min). and put computer to sleep (never). You can change this by going to Screen Saver or click on change power options. Look at the left panel and select Change when the computer sleeps. Then make your adjustments here, and save changes. I just tried it and it works for me. Did you try this?

When you say "I just tried it"...is it this:

You click Sleep and computer sleeps (that works fine here as mentioned)

    Or

Put the computer to sleep, then have a scheduled task wake it, perform the task and then go back to sleep.

This is what is NOT happening here.

Lemme be straight - sleep is great...putting it down is great...waking it up (manually) is great...waking it up via a scheduled task is great...but having it go BACK to sleep after a task is run...is not working...at all.

    Any more suggestions...?

    Cheers!
