yeah still use normal cpu v on stock clocks, auto will overvolt...as for qpi i have a full range of voltage settings to choose from makesure your selecting the right qpi voltage in bios its below where you set the cpu voltage, also set ram voltage manually too

yes thats right, but you should have a lot of voltage settings for qpi not just two, makesure your rams not in xmp mode, you wont need anything above 1.40000v thats just for clocks of 4ghz+,ram dont go above 1.66v in the bios, cpu you should be able to clock to 3.8ghz on normal voltage with a d0 chip, anything higher youll need more, dont go above 1.4v for cpu unless you want to clock to 4.6ghz+ or you like frying intel chips

under QPI i have loads of settings. i just gave like a short ref.

i mean that start really low and go beyond .

when i said i have two, what i mean is i have two above and lower then your
    1.3000

    like i said. i have

    Starts Low
1.075 say then looks like it goes up by 10 or something.

    [1.285]
    [1.295]
    [1.300] <----- this i dont have!
    [1.315]
    [1.333]
Then it goes UP UP UP

    just to clear that up.

ok it just might be that particular bios that has different settings to mine,1.315 will be fine though, what was the errors you were getting? did you try with one click more qpi voltage then see if it gave an error?

im not sure what the error is as it dont give me a BSOD.

only thing i see is in Event Viewer.

    Kernal-Power Event ID 41.

windows will be running. and out of the blue will just Restart the computer. ? just like in the thread

    http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/ga-e...freezes-37356/

since ive set it all back to stock (load Op)

and just set my memory. i aint had it happen (YET)

so maybe since Prime95 ran for over 4hrs = All passed. & memtest86 ran for 5 Passes = No Errors.

    i think it might be
    1.PSU?
    2.Ram times are wrong
    3.Gfx Card (as its a old Nvidia 9600GT 512mb)
    4. i have no idea :)

something i have notice though is a high pitch sound comming for the Cappsitors i think? when i browse youtube and other site alike. kind makes squeeching sound for a second or two. is that normal?

i am goingto buy a new PsU & Gfx card soon. also a Intel or Samsung SSD!

PSU i have now is only like 5 months old. Corsair HX520 watt.
new one im getting will be a HX850watt..

Nvidia GTX 260 is in the post.

    SSD later next month.

    what do you think?

i just want a nice stable fast i7 that dont crash when i render 720p H.264 5 min movies.

id be happy with a 3.2Ghz OC. but still keeping the Idle low power thing, so when i need to Render it will shoot up to the 3.2Ghz, then when done drop back to w/e.. if you know what i mean.

    you are very helpful man.

    thanks.

to stop the noise disable c1e in the bios under advanced cpu features, and enable balanced power saving profile in win7,it does same job as c1e but without the noise

hi just thought id come back to let you know.

ive done some prime95 runs and results are this.

    everything works @ 3.6Ghz fine..
Temps are fine 59/61C max on Prime95 Blend for 4hrs.

the only thing im having trouble with is the Ram.

    right now its fine 1333 @ 9-9-9-20-Auto

eventhough its rated @ 1600 8-8-8-24 it will crash within 1hr of prime95.

also crashed in prime95 blend 2hrs on 9-9-9-24-Auto

    CPU Vcore 1.2
    QPI/VTT 1.315
    Dram 1.66

just thinking can i up some voltage to test the Ram @ 1600 9-9-9-24?
