    Default Gigabyte ga-ep45-ud3p

built this system about a year ago
    Q8600 duo core intel
    nvidia geforce 9800gtx
    corsair 4 gb dominator ram
    gigabyte ga-ep45-ud3p mobo
    APEVIA 650w PSU
    500gb sata HD

has been working fine ever since. suddenly today while trying to get my printer working correctly after replacing the ink carts. know this has nothing to do with it (but its what i was doing at the time) suddenly my comp kinda got really laggy and froze after shutting it down it wont power up now??? i tested the PSU by jumping the green and a ground it powers up instantly. tried replacing the memory sticks one at a time. nothing.
but pushing the power button on front of case does nothing. so open it up tried jumping the pins on the mobo for the power switch still nothing. so what could this be? i have basically disassembled the entire computer and reinstalled everything. still nothing. i am at a total loss..

anyone else has this problem? or know something it might be?

all help appreciated thanks in advance.

    Angry Re: Gigabyte ga-ep45-ud3p

Your symptoms are similar to my system, where it suddenly powered down and won't power up.
I've tested my mobo with a minimal hardware setup, with the mobo out of the computer case. Testing included 3 different power supplies, 2 different cpus, and 2 different brands of memory. All tests failed, mobo would not power up.

When I jumpered the green and black wires with the 24-pin connector plugged in to the motherboard, the mobo LEDs lit up and the fans spun, but the system just sat there, refusing to start.

Performing an overnight CMOS clear with the battery removed didn't help.
The are no physical signs of damage on my mobo and the cpu pins and socket look fine.

When I moved all my hardware to my older N650SLI-DS4 mobo, everything worked perfectly.
It's RMA time for my mobo.

Some of the suggestions in this post might help you.

Hope you have better luck than I had.

this sucks as the mobo is out of neweggs replacement period which means i now have to deal with gigabyte... wtf knows when i will get a replacement. really need my comp :(

My first N650SLI-DS4 "ate" its bios just before the 30 day Newegg RMA period deadline.
RMA was painless, they quickly sent me a brand new replacement.

I've bought a lot of hardware from Newegg and have had some "issues" from time to time. Every time I called Newegg, they were very cooperative and all issues were easily resolved. I'm sure it helped because I didn't get excited and explained the problem in a calm, rational manner.

After the initial mobo failure, I decided that never again would I be without a backup computer. I ended up buying components for a low end backup system (P35-DS3L & e2140 cpu). All the other parts were bought when they had free shipping, rebates or other deals. With the current high cost of DDR2 memory, this approach probably isn't practical. A better bet might be to buy a new or used low-end notebook computer as a backup system.
