    Default E7300 OC problem on GA-EP45-UD3P

    Hi

    I upgraded my mobo to GA-EP45-UD3P but am unable to OC beyond 425*8. I am trying to OC to 450*8 but system does not boot. Here are my settings.

    When I selected the following options as Auto, system booted fine at 450X8 but the voltages were too high. They are as follows :

    What is the mobo version #? (1.0, 1.1, or 1.6)
    What bios version are you running?
    Is your Ballistix Tracer memory the newer 2.0 volt version?

    Try the following settings:

    CPU Termination......1.200v...........: 1.24 <-- 1.26 or 1.28 might be needed for stability
    CPU PLL.................1.500v...........: 1.57

    MCH Core...............1.100v...........: 1.22 <-- 1.24 - 1.28 might be needed to boot
    MCH Reference........0.800v.........: Auto
    MCH/DRAM Ref.........0.900v.........: Auto
    ICH I/O...................1.500v.........: 1.500 <-- 1.57 maybe
    ICH Core.................1.100v.........: 1.100 <-- 1.20 maybe

    MCH Core that is too high or to low will cause boot or instability problems.
    Did you load optimized bios settings before changing your bios settings?

    Static tRead Value (tRD) = 9 should be stable with 2.00D.
    tRD = 8 should be stable with 2.00B memory multiplier.
    2.40B memory multiplier might work with tRD = 8 and 5-5-5-15 primary memory timings.

    BIOS ver = F8
    Mobo version = 1.0/1.1
    Crucial Balistix Tracer new one with 2.0V and can run at 1000 Mhz.

    I did not load optimised defaults when I changed settings. I have created profiles with other OC settings so I just load one over the other. I tried Load optimised defaults, restarted system, Oced again but did not help. Are you saying every time before we OC ,we load optimised defaults in BIOS, save and exit BIOS and then change settings for OC?

    For 450X8, I increased the CPU Vcore upto 1.475 in BIOS (In windows 1.456). CPU Termination tried 1.24/1.26/1.28. CPU PLL tried 1.57,1.59,1.61,1.63 & 1.65. ICH 1.57 but it did not help. I was unable to boot at all.

    I changed the settings to Auto and was able to boot with CPU PLL to 1.85 and CPU termination set at 1.5V.

    For 400X9 OC, I needed 1.41V in Windows and CPU PLL of 1.63.

    Is there a way I can reduce the CPU PLL?

    Please Help!!!!!!

    The following is from Chike's signature:

    His cpu VID is low at 1.063 volts.

    Once you've loaded optimized bios settings, you don't need to reload them again unless you:
    a) clear CMOS
    b) flash to a different bios version
    c) load "Fail Safe" settings

    It looks like your VX450 has an 8-pin/4-pin combination EPS/ATX connector (2 4-pin connectors).
    Are you using both 4-pin connections to your motherboard?
    This is a long shot....can you test with another psu?

    Please add your mobo version (1.0 or 1.1, not both) to your forum signature.

    Mobo version is 1.1. BIOS is F8.
    Details of Mobo and proccy added to Signature.
    VX450 has two 4 pin power connectors and both of them are being used as this Mobo requires a 8 pin power connector. Hummmm... I do not think the problem is with PSU. Unfortunately, I do not have a spare PSU to test.

    I think it is either that I have a bad proccy or I am doing something incorrect in BIOS.

    What is the max stable FSB you got so far, and the settings for it?
    Increase FSB 10MHz each time, and see if you can get it stable.
    Try 2.00B memory multiplier.

    I wonder what the temps are since the OP is using such high voltages.
    Further, what cooling method are you using?

    With your new mobo, did you initially perform any stability tests at stock speeds?
    If yes, which tests did you run and for how long?

    How many intermediate test setups did you use to work your way up to 425 - 450MHz?
    Did you perform stability tests at these intermediate settings?

    Have you checked the voltage readings in the bios PC Health section?
    Have you verified system voltage settings using HWmonitor or other programs?

    It wouldn't hurt to turn off your computer, switch off the psu, unplug the psu power cord, and then remove and re-seat the 8-pin EPS power cable and the 24-pin main motherboard cables.

    Can you borrow another psu to test with?
