Default GA-EX58-UD3R (1.6) Will Not POST

I have been having a real problem with my EX58-UD3R (1.6) Build.

    First I have -

    i7-920
    IDE DVD-RW Drive
    6Gb (3x2Gb) Patriot Viper Memory (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
Western Digital Caviar Black 1Tb HD

The system usually does not boot on the first try - it does not even get to the POST screen. It does not do the endless re-boot cycles but simply powers up the fans, CPU LED's light up and it just sits there with no video output.

It takes between 2 and 30 attempts to boot by powering up / down, hitting reset, unplugging all USB items, reseting BIOS, etc.

Once it is up and running there are no problems at all.

I have tried removing / moving memory sticks, replacing the video card and all versions of the BIOS since october 09.

Any idea what the problem could be? Is there anything else I can do?

    Thanks
    Rick

I am using the same board. Can you post your MIT BIOS settings? You may need to manually set Vdimm and QPI volts, and RAM timings.

    Here is the data

    CPU Clock Ratio - [20x]
    CPU Frequency - 2.66 GHz
    QPI Clock Ratio - Auto
    Performance Enhance - Standard
    XMP - Disabled
    System Multiplier - [AUTO]
    Memory Frequency 1066
    Dram Timing [AUTO] 7 - 7 - 7 - 20 - 1 (Same As Published by Patriot)
    Load Line Calibration - [DISABLED]
    CPU vCore 1.2625 [AUTO]
    QPI Voltage 1.175 [AUTO]
    IOH Core 1.10 [AUTO]
    DRAM Voltage 1.50 [AUTO]

The patriot memory I am using is XMP memory and I can Set XMP to profile 1 and get the published 1333 Mhz and 1.65 v on the memory but after a boot failure it goes back to the default settings above.

    Any help would be appreciated

What PSU are you using? It may not be up to the task. But try this: enable XMP profile, then manually set the remaining items by this template.

Well I set the BIOS as posted here an upped teh QPI voltage to 1.295 and was able to successfully start the machine from a shut down with no problems 3 times.

Now I just have to see how it does over the next few weeks

    Thanks

How did it work out? Has your system been stable since your last post? I have had the same problem and am wondering whether you have solved it, or just given up (...like I have almost.)

its always better to manually set the qpi/cpu and dram voltages, auto will overvolt them and is less stable.setting system performance enhance to standard may help you also
