Thread: Anybody on ud7 from x58-extreme/ud5 ?

  1. #1

    Default Anybody on ud7 from x58-extreme/ud5 ?

    Hi,

My x58 extreme starting to operating bad. (can't raise bclk more than 160, altough it was on 190 since few month without problem. I't not cpu or mem problem, I lowered them of course to test what causing the problem)

So I'm going to replace my x58-extreme board to new one.

My question is there is any reason except usb3 to go for a newer ud7 board, or stick with the same board ?
If somebody was on extreme or ud5 before ud7, any info opinion would be great.

The best would be extreme v2.0 of course...
I waited for x-58 extreme rev2.0 but no info about release date, no info from Lsdmeasap too.

    Thanks,
    Pubem

X58A-UD7 is the x58-extreme 2. Its a good board, compared to the extreme, expesialy the sata 3.0 and usb 3.0 features:)

    Thanks for the reply !

Yes, sata3 is nice for me, but I have read many problems with ud7,
and I'm afraid I will have issues.
With extreme I was very happy, worked well with 12 gb mem (tricky part).
Also overclocking on 4ghz on stock voltages...

I don't know yet, what is the best way..

Thumbs down Re: Anybody on ud7 from x58-extreme/ud5 ?

I am running this mobo with new icore 7 cpu having 6 cores, and overclocked it to 4Ghz, no problem, as long as fan can keep it cool.

Only problem I had so far, monotoring the new pc before moving over to it, is the raid 10. Apparently it has performance benefits, and also your data is more safe.

However, ever few weeks, the raid 10 had 1 drive failure. I restored that sucessfully.
By the way, the 4 drives for the raid is 4 brand new Seagate Baracuda 7200.12 1TB drives.

I never had problems with Seagate Baracuda drives befor.

After another week, the system showed 2 drives failed.
I replaced one and is bussy rebuilding the raid, while Windows is running.

I think there might be some issues with the RAID 10 thing.

I also think if Raid 10 is not being used, the mobo will have no ather issues to my knowledge.

I need Raid 10 for performance, as well as the day that a drive might fail, but not fail after 1 week!

Maybe power supply problem ? or simply bad luck of seagates ?

I have 850 Watt Lian Li Power supply in Lian Li TYR PC-X2000B Black Aluminum Chassis.

Plenty of air flowing through, with plenty of fans, and plenty of power?

Each hard disk drive takes about 10 watts during operation.
