Post looking for a bios setting for my GA-X58A-UD5 and raid question

The guys who've built my PC did a very bad job at configuring the bios so now I am practically runing at default values (cmos default :/ ) with some changes to the controller.
this is my build, I've tried to mess around but I am really affraid to kill something since I really have no idea what I am doing (I am a linux tech, never do hardware too much)

    build:
    atx GIGABYTE 3D AURORA
    power supply ENERMAX PRO82+ 625W
    mobo GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD5
cpu INTEL Core i7 920 TRAY
    cpu cooling COOLER MASTER V8
    ram kit OCZ OCZ3P1600LV6GK 3X2GB 1600MHz CL7
    2x SEAGATE ST3750330NS 750GB SATA-2 32MB RAID EDITION
dvd LG GH22LS40 X22 DVD±R/RW LightScribe SATA BLACK
    br SONY BDU-X10S BD-ROM Drive
    gpu GIGABYTE Radeon HD 5850 1GB DDR5 PCI-E GV-R585D5-1GD-B

thank you for any tips and help
i've read through the forum and did get windows 7 working (connected the hardrives to intel raid controller instead of gigabyte raid)
is there a way of working with the gigabyte controller? is it faster?

No the Gigabyte controller is not faster. Use the Intel. As far as BIOS settings, here is a nice guide (pdf document) http://www.giga-byte.com.my/FileList...bios_guide.pdf

ok, i've finally got it to work properly (I tried to go to x21 on 133mhz but got some alarm from my pc about the core going over 60)

is there a way I can copy my bios properties directly from windows? or do i have to go to my bios and copy by the template to show you guys?

for 3.8ghz clock just go in bios and set it to this, its what ive been using for a year now and 100% stable, set bclk to 180,set your qpi voltage to 1.3000v, set your ram voltage to 1.66v, set your ram timings to what they are rated at on the packaging for example7-7-7-24-1T and raise your memory multiplier to give you as close to 1600mhz,set system performane to standard and set your cpu voltage to "normal" voltage setting(1.18750v) your uncore freq is twice what the ram multi is then add one to it so if ram multi is 8 uncore is 17......set the alarm setting in bios or easytune for 75c

warren, I don't want to overclock my cpu all the way to 3.8 as this is my firstime clock so I would like to start with a safe clocking speed and template.
do you have any suggestions for a lower clock?

thanks for the help up until now!

3.8 isnt that big an overclock, and with your cooler you should do 3.8ghz quite easy.. for overclock of 3.4 or 3.6 just set your bclk to give you 3.4-3.6ghz and set ram multi for 1600mhz all voltages can be left as the same ie: cpu normal voltage, ram 1.66,qpi 1.30000v

it goes into limbo, and when i reset it it comes back telling me there was a problem with the overclocking and gives me the default values to load with.
