    With 2x2GB setups using your memory, many have found that their systems are only stable with MCH Core = 1.05 when most other 8500 memory setups need 1.20 - 1.24. This might mean that your memory might work best with MCH Core lower than 1.28.

    The G.Skill memory forum has a thread that deals with the EP45-UD3P/ R mobos. Their advice seems to be that you need 1.40 volts with 8GB of memory, nothing more, nothing less.

    Going from 500 to 533MHz is a 6.6% increase. Realistically, you would only see a real world performance increase of about 2 - 3%.

    You've helped me so much thus far, I've went from zero OC'ing knowledge to at least having an idea over just a few days. :o

    I agree with you about the 533FSB, I was just testing to see if system could run it for testing purposes.

    The jump from 500 -> 533 seems to not be worth it considering how much the components are being stressed, and how much additional voltage is needed.

    Could I burden you for a template for 4.00GHz, 500FSB (8x500MHz)? Running my RAM at 1000MHz is what I'm looking for, and may leave some room for tightening timings.

    The 4.00GHz OC seems more viable performance wise, and clock wise. Like you mentioned before, and as a few articles have also agreed with you, clockrate beyond a certain area meets diminishing returns. Lowering my clock ~210MHz, while raising FSB by 66MHz seems like a better trade off.

    Sorry, I overlooked this in your post.

    There is no magical formula for 8x500MHz setups, especially with 8GB of memory.

    Suggested settings for a 490x8 (3.92GHz) setup. Sometimes the "last" 100MHz can be a real PITA.

    Managed to get system posting at 4.00GHz, 8x500.

    However, something worries me a bit, VTT in relation to VCORE. Am running MCH at 1.4V per request http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=1169

    I got system to post on 1.36 CPU Termination, however it seemed unstable due to the fact that when I attempted to post once again at 1.36, it failed and reverted to safe clocks.

    On 1.38 VTT, it seemed to be stable, I rebooted 4 times to check it would post consistently, and that seemed to work.

    I currently have Load Line Calibration Enabled, and am running VCORE at 1.4V (BIOS health screen shows about 1.396), I'm almost positive I don't need 1.4V VCORE to run stable at this clockspeed.

    My question, is it alright to run VTT very close to VCORE, or in some cases with VTT above VCORE?

    Seems sort of like in my case I may end up needing to stick with 1.38V VTT while being able to lower VCORE below VTT's value.

    Since I was worried about having VTT so close to my VCORE value, I did not boot to Windows, I only let system post a few times...

    The general recommendation is that VTT should be set at least 0.05 - 0.10 volts lower than Vcore.

    With LLC enabled, you are able to run with Vcore somewhat lower than the Vcore setting when LLC is disabled.
    I've seen a few stable setups running at higher than 4.0GHz where VTT was closer to or equal to Vcore.

    You might be able to lower these voltages by tweaking MCH Refenence voltage.
    The proper way to do this is:

    1. set VTT = 1.20
    2. modify MCH Reference to the new value
    3. set VTT back to the desired value

    It's best if you include this information in your bios settings as:
    MCH Reference -------- 0.760V ------ : [xxxx] set to 0.7?? at 1.20 VTT

    where xxxx is the value displayed in the bios after you have re-set VTT back to the current setting

    Most extreme C2D overclocks that tweak MCH Reference use settings lower than 0.760 (with VTT set at 1.20), such as 0.740, 0.720, or 0.700.

    FYI, this post shows Intel's guidelines for the P4 chipset family. With 1.40, you are 6% over the recommendation, which should be safe for now.
    I recommend extended stress testing with your current setup. Short term use with your current settings should be fine.
    Post your current bios settings and screen-shots after you have completed testing.

    I've deemed 500FSB unattainable after working on it earlier, at least using safe voltages.

    Am currently working on a 450FSB template, RAM at 900 for 1:1.

    Will post template I'm using soon.

    arctic-k20 has an almost stable settings, with much lower Vcore(LLC enabled), VTT, and MCH Core.
    Have you tried his settings at least, VTT and MCH Core/Reference?
    I know no two systems are the same, but my guess you can get stable around those settings.

    My system won't even post on that template. Also, those voltages seem way off, 1GHz clock increase in nearly no VCORE increase. Not just that, but at his CPU VTT of 1.24V shouldn't even be able to reach anywhere near 500FSB. To make my system post consistently, my board required 1.38 CPU VTT.

    Also, how is he even running his RAM at 1066 when he's using 500FSB w/ 2.00d multiplier?

    Seems like so many things don't add up.

    With FSB = 450 and memory = 900MHz, system memory multiplier = 2.00B with tighter memory timings should be stable.
    Initially, I would use 5-5-5-12 primary memory timings and later try tighter timings, such as 4-5-5-12.
    With 4GB of memory, 4-4-4-12 might be stable, but this setting is probably too tight with 8GB.

    I'm getting confused working with you and arctic-k20, where you both have 8GB of memory and similar setups.

    Seems like so many things don't add up.
    His Driving Strength settings = 1066 are good, but his posted Memory Frequency = 1066 is a typo. His screen-shot shows that he is running a 1002MHz.
    I can't explain his voltage settings, he must have an awfully good cpu, mobo, and memory.
