Default Higher DPC latencies with C3/C6/C7 states inevitable?

    Hi,

Long story short: I have a GA-P55A-UD4 and the only way to avoid dropouts using my USB DAC is to turn off C3/C6/C7 states in BIOS.

Let just say I tried everything else. Disabling devices, disabling other BIOS settings, and so on. When using the DPC Latency Checker I can clearly see that turning off C3/C6/C7 lowers the latencies. With it off the latencies top 110Ás, with it on they top 700Ás.

My questions are: Is this inevitable? Is it just how C3/C6/C7 states work? Or is it something the Gigabyte engineers could tweak? I'm using the latest F7 BIOS. The processor is an i5 750.

The downside of disabling C3/C6/C7 states is that Turbo Boost is severely crippled. Ultimately I'd like both full Turbo Boost and low DPC latencies. If possible.

    Matt

does disabling c1e and eist lower latency too? or just C3/C6/C7 states?? for me c1e is the cause, also try closing easytune...that will lower latency too

Disabling C1E and/or EIST does not have a significant impact on the latencies for me. Only disabling C3/C6/C7 states does. I actually never installed EasyTune. (I'm using a very clean Windows 7 x64 install.)

    Just a couple of pictures.

This is with C3/C6/C7 States ENABLED:
