    There are some numeric typos in the beginning of the posted bios.

    Currently: 4.005GHz (445x9 stable)
    possible o/c steps:
    1. 450 x 9 = 4.050GHz, mem = 900MHz
    2. 455 x 9 = 4.095GHz, mem = 910MHz
    3. 460 x 9 = 4.140GHz, mem = 920MHz
    4. 465 x 9 = 4.185GHz, mem = 930MHz
    We aren't limited to nice round numbers, it just makes the math easier.
    Use your current stable settings, but set CPU Host Frequency = 450.
    We will let any errors dictate which settings need tweaking.
    Be sure to post specific error details, messages, images or other useful information.

    You should change your forum options to display 40 posts per page.
    I'm currently on page 4 of your thread and for me, post #116 is on page 3.

    Am I correct in assuming that you are currently using your full 445 x 9 bios template where the only change is CPU Host Frequency = 450MHz?
    If yes, great!

    I will change posts per page shortly (if I can find the option)

    If yes, great!
    Yes correct,.
    And some current results.

    @bios template 445x9x890 but VTT @1.20
    with freq 450x9
    Memetest passed 5 passes test#5

    So then I thought about lowering Vcore as my Bios Default is in fact 1.2500v

    So @ 1click lower than 1.2750V
    Memetest passed 5 passes test#5

    @2clicks lower than 1.2750V
    Memetest passed 5 passes test#5

    @3clicks lower than 1.2750v
    Memetest passed 5 passes test#5

    @4clicks lower than 1.2750v = 1.2500v
    Memetest passed 5 passes test#5
    IBT passed 5 loops @ 2048Mb auto

    Ga Ep45 UD3P rev 1.0 Bios assistance-9x450x900-vcore-1-2500-png

    Obviously need to run Prime 95 blend test here

    But I'm thinking of returning the MCH Reference to 0.76

    Back to testing.....

    Thumbs up Re: Ga Ep45 UD3P rev 1.0 Bios assistance

    Good details and screen-shot.
    I'd like to see CoreTemp included with each of your interim screen-shots. (trust but verify)

    My overclocking approach is a bit different.
    When trying to find my maximum system speed, I'm not concerned with tweaking my voltages for their lowest stable settings at each step. I also leave my memory settings at a ballpark performance level. Of course this approach changes once I'm at or near my maximum o/c level. If you try for optimal settings for each step before you go on to the next step, it will take you much longer to reach your final goal. There is no absolute right or wrong way; but some approaches are more productive than others. My approach is to have a stable bios profile that passes all stability tests; optimization comes at the end.

    You might eventually want several optimized bios profiles when you're done, such as:
    1. high performance for everyday operation
    2. boosted performance for gaming
    3. extreme performance for benchmarking and bragging rights

    yeah,. your approach really is what I had in mind too,.

    But Due to recent confusion,.I decided to backtrack to realise what changes I have really made and why they work.

    For example,. I changed my ram timings from 4-4-4-12 to 5-5-5-18. Nobody has commented on this but it broke the wall from my stable 3.645GHz Build. I notice Jakes are at ..-15 and mine are 18, but I stuck to what my bios had listed.
    Whilst on this subject have you any links for defining differences in ram timings??

    Anyway,. finished test of:

    445x9 build running at

    CPU Freq: --- 450x9
    with Vcore -- 1.2500v

    with MCH returned to stock 0.760
    mtest 5 passes at test #5 passed
    IBT @ 2048Mb BSOD
    stop: 0,0~0124

    Interestingly without upping Vcore but following procedure (as in VTT,Vtt +1Vcore, ,..lower MCh ref)

    VTT now increased to 1.22 (vtt 1.22 MCHref is now 0.772) from 0.74
    Mtest at 5 passes test#5 passed
    IBT @ 2048Mb with higher Gflops than my previous IBT test passed.
    (only differences between the 2 passing IBT test are MCH ref was returned to 0.76 and VTT needed +1click.)
    I'll have to remember that..

    Ga Ep45 UD3P rev 1.0 Bios assistance-vtt-1-vcore-1-2500-jpg

    Now I know I need to run Prime 95,.. and will a bit later on with this exact setup as above,. (if it passes I post new bios build.)

    I think I'm going to start venturing further at a higher CPU FREQ....

    re: Memory Timings
    4-4-4-12 timings can be demanding, especially when memory speed approaches 875 - 900MHz with 2 x 2GB of memory. Some high quality memory modules have trouble as they approach 875MHz with these timings. My original goal was for you keep the 4-4-4-12 timings up to 430MHz FSB (860MHz). It's possible that MCH Core was a bit too low. Maybe slightly looser memory timings (e.g. 4-5-4-12) might have worked. As I recall, your DHX modules are considered value ram, but a few reviews I read indicated that they were decent performers and are far removed from cheap ram. In my system, my 8GB of Kingston HyperX T1 memory runs happily with 4-4-4-10 timings at 874MHz. My MCH Core setting is ~ 1.26 - 1.28 for my 4 x 2GB setup.

    BSOD 0x124 is probably due to CPU Vcore and/or VTT are probably a bit to low.

    My 4-4-4-10 example shows that sometimes you get lucky with your hardware.
    No, cas4 settings are out of the question. You're approaching 900MHz speeds right now.
    As you o/c higher, you're working your hardware much harder and former stable memory timings might have to slightly looser for them to remain stable.
    You might find that your memory can run with 5-5-4-12 (or similar) timings up to almost 1000MHz. It's a waste of time right now to try to run with tight memory timings (as discussed previously) because it might cause instability in an otherwise stable system.

    To bad I don't get to see a pretty screen-shot at bedtime ;)
