One very important thing is to be persistent and consistent.
First of all, only change one parameter at a time, or there is no way to tell which made the difference.
Second, if a large(>- 128k) FFT fail and you did not eun small FFT first, run small FFT. Smaller chance to small FFT to fail because of bus/memory issues than it is to large FFT.
Run small FFT with 12 minute each test for 2 hours. If it fail try more vcore, if not, we'll see what to do.

Umm, I did only change 1 paramater at a time, but I'm guessing you mean to increase or decrease 1 specific paramater at a time in order to see if it passes or fails.

From my earlier tests I believed that going even lower with CPU Ref (for example) was not going to work.
I tried to work in a concise manner but utilizing my time in the wisest also.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here with my (rule of thumb) assumption that if for example VTT @ 1.22 does not work at a lower FSB (say 455x9) then it won't work at a higher FSB.

Now,. The real question is what is better?
Higher Vcore or Higher CPU PLL???
    Badly written question sorry.
I meant to ask What are the effects on Gflops with a lower CPU PLL (1.57) in this case.

Results From IBT with CPU PLL change

    @ 1.59 avg=29.1801
    and
    @ 1.57 avg=29.2127

NB:// When testing IBT: I use 2048MB on auto
and I wait 2mins after booting run once then wait 5 more mins and run again using my 2nd run as my results.

Nice too see a slight increase.
How does it look to you now..??

    467: 29.1801 (4.2GHz)
    Divided by
    333: 21.5296 (3GHz)
    multiplied by
    21.5296
    Equals
    30.1932
    29.2127 are my results.

There may be a few days before my next post,.I unfortunately have been called away on work.
If you happen to read this ProfJim,..please read from my first post earlier today #205. I simply wanted to see what would happen if I took this approach,.(self learning curve I guess). Somehow,.(though my explainations as to why are limited) it's working.

I'm passing the Small FFT'S after an hour or so in. I definetly need to modify my aproach to this . But as mentioned in the first post "I was venturing".
Second, if a large(>- 128k) FFT fail and you did not run small FFT first, run small FFT. Smaller chance to small FFT to fail because of bus/memory issues than it is to large FFT.
    Q. Do you mean smaller chance for small FFt to fail...?
I unfortunately thought that large FFT'S were from 1024,.oops!

That makes a lot of sense,.and I'm hoping that stabilty will come slightly easier later in the process because of this,..That way with what I've learnt I will be able to apply myself in a more productive manner.

Any comments, advice or knowledge from Yourself, Chike or Jake are welcomed.

    Till next post..

There is smaller chance for smaller FFT to fail from the reasons large FFT fail(bus/memory settings) than for large FFT to fail from reasons small FFT will fail.

If you only run large FFT, the reason may be either bus or CPU settings. But if small FFT fails it is more likely it's CPU related settings then bus/memory related settings, unless they are horrible, and to prevent that we have memtest86+.

    A little knowledge is dangerous.
"Venturing" on your own is not the most productive way to reach an ideal overclock in the shortest amount of time.
I suggest that you post your venturing ideas for us to comment on before venturing forth. I applaud your initiative, but .....

Optimizing PLL is a waste of time right now. PLL contributes to stability, but should not be tweaked further until your system has passed all three Prime95 tests.
Chike's advice is right on money.

I've had to tweak my E6850 voltages to run at STOCK settings, this is par for the course with my motherboard.
I've had consistent freezes in windows within one hour of booting. No BSODs, just freezing, even with light desktop activity.
It has now passed 3 hours of small FFT, 5 hours of Large FFT, and is several hours into a 10 hour Blend test. Hopefully the freezing problem will now be gone.

If you haven't read the Prime95 tutorial link in my signature ( Torture test your CPU with Prime95 ), read it before you return to your system.

My LinX GFlops score at 3.0GHz is about 15% lower than your 3.0GHz score.

Attached is a picture that shows the three different default Prime95 test settings:

Run large FFT test for 2 - 4 hours and if successful, run Blend test for 6 - 10 hours or longer.
