Default Im getting mad - P35DS3

That damn thing wont overclock only 1 bit anymore...
I had a 8200 running with 3700 Mhz for a long time now - and bang, suddenly it stopped working. I cant change FSB anymore. not the slightest bit.
Tried a clear cmos, tried different bios versions, voltages, settings. i lowered the multiplier and increased fsb to be sure its not the cpu. multiplier works, fsb not.
I tried several windows programs. setfsb throws out an error message, easy tuner has its tuning tab grayed out...

    I mean... wtf...

    heeeeelp. any ideas??!!

try taking the battery out overnight
also fall back to basic setup...minimal components and reinstall the CPU

test with a different psu if you can,it could be on the way out, hence it wont overclock due to extra power needed

    Will try battery over night...

PSU?! No way! It doesn`t even UNDERCLOCK.... If i lower the multiplier to 7 and inrease FSB to 334, that means 326 MHz less. but it doesn`t work. multiplier works, fsb wont move... still 333, no matter what i change.

Follow steps 1 - 4 in this post to provide a detailed hardware list.
Using EasyTune5 advanced mode will provide more useful information in the screen-shot.
Use this p35 bios template to provide your current settings.
We can better help you when you provide all of this information.

Re-seat all mobo cable connections and all plug-in cards.

    Voltages are fine and stable:
    12,04V, 3,36V, 1,264 Core - set to 1,3 in Bios.

PSU is a Enermax Liberty, perfectly fine brand PSU... 1 HDD, 1 DVD-RW Drive,
8800 GT, 4 Gigs of Ram (2x2 - DDR2 800 - stable till ~970 - more Voltage won`t increase max possible). I am aware of problems with oc and usb drives/hardware on this motherboard - thats not the problem here.

Funny thing is, I dont have a bootloop or anything; if I enter Bios, Settings are still the same - CPU Host Clock Control is enabled. But it always boots 333 MHz FSB, no matter what I choose.

And itt doesn`t matter wich bios - I tried F12-F14e. Same behavior. I tried cmos reset, even removed battery (no idea if it makes a difference if I remove it over night, or if its just voodo - I guess it is...).

I`m no noob... That board and that cpu and that Ram worked rockstable (even 3800 MHz) for a long time. and now my board tells me to go f*** myself?! I have no idea what could be the reason for such a behavior. I was hoping someone had that problem before... -.-
I mean - if it would be a hardware Problem, it would be a very starnge one...

And what could be the reason that "tuner" tab is grayed out and I get "smbus error" with setfsb?! I know what the reason is: the smbus access is somehow locked. But why??!!!
And more important: how do I get rid of that ****?!

    CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [8]
    CPU Host Clock Control_ [Enabled]
    CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [450]
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [101]

    System Voltage Control____ [Manual]
    DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.200V]
    PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [+0 V]
    FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.1V]
    (G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0 V]

When a stable system suddenly has problems, it's usually related to cable connections or a hardware failure. It doesn't sound like a psu issue, but you can't be sure unless you test with another unit.

I've found that (G)MCH OverVoltage Control = +0.1 is sometimes required with my P35-DS3L (rev 1.0) with 4GB or memory; 4x1GB or 2x2GB.

ET6 is pretty useless with P35 mobos.

Try reloading optimized bios defaults, save settings and exit, then boot back into the bios, where you'll press [ctrl]+F1 and then make changes in your bios. Do you have any saved bios profiles that you can try?

I hate to be a PITA, but you're making it much harder for us when you don't include a detailed hardware list in your signature. Many of us are helping in many other threads. Sorry, I can't be bothered to scroll though a thread looking through many posts to find the hardware info.

If you have not placed a jumper on CLR_CMOS when you have cleared it I would give that one more chance, both a jumper and the battery out.

I recall a few users that had the same problem, at least one was resolved by a "proper" CMOS clear, and at least one had to RMA his board.

Thx for your help. Its working again, but I dont have any idea why. I removed power, made clear cmos via jumper (at least that is what should have happened), powered on and voila. 463 FSB again... wtf?! bios settings not reset? everything working normal again?!

I have no idea whats happening. I`m glad its working again. Tab in easytune is back, setfsb is working....

Never worry why things work, only when they don't.
