Error 7B may be driver related problem, try SP3 if you can get it or slipstream your CD.

I've searched other fora aswell, and came with the following:

In BIOS change AHCI to EDI....

What are the risks of doing this?

    (just before I'll slipstream SP3)

Which one do you have set? AHCI is a pain with windows XP.

Risk of changing from AHCI to IDE I am aware of is that if you try to boot operating system that was set to use AHCI with IDE it may never boot again.
