    Default Q9550 + EP45-UD3P overclock EIST & C1E Enabled

    What is wrong with one of the two OCCT graphs? Why does the E6750 + abit IP35 Pro MB look just the opposite of the Q9550 + EP45-UD3P MB? Both systems have C1E and EIST enabled and both are to the best of my knowledge are stable. I would think the abit graph is what it should look like with C1E and EIST enabled? Have I got something wrong with the Q9550 OC settings or... am I chasing smoke? It would seem that C1E has no effect on the idle voltage?

    That describes my system perfectly. When EIST and C1E are enabled on my overclocked systems, there is no difference in voltages or Core Speeds in cpu-z at idle or low loads.

    Apples and oranges (C2D versus quad core), but here's my OCCT Vcore results where EIST and C1E are disabled. Cpu Vcore is set to 1.36875 with my e6550.
    OCCT reports the Vcore ripple is 0.02 volts and your Q9550 ripple is 0.06 volts.
    The Abit Vcore graph is bass-ackwards compared to my OCCT results with three different dual core processors on three different Gigabyte mobo models.

    Ok, I'm chasing smoke! Maybe that is why abit is no longer in business. But to my bass-ackward thought process the abit graph looks like what I would have expected when C1E and EIST are Enabled. Lower voltage when the system is throttled back and more voltage when it is throttled up under load. Oh well, C1E and EIST are going back to Disabled.

    To further add more smoke to the comparison:
    E6750 + Abit P35 mobo --> 20% overclock from 333 to 400MHz FSB.
    Q9550 + Gigabyte P45 mobo --> 35% overclock from 333 to 450MHz FSB.

    Ya gotta watch what you're smokin' ;)

    ProJim,
    At the risk of beating this to death - I was/am just curious why the Phoenix BIOS (9/25/2008) on the abit board lowers the voltage when the cpu is idle and the Award BIOS (11/23/2009) on the Gigabyte board raises the voltage when the system is idle. I am not trying to compare any absolute values on the two graphs just the difference in the way the two BIOS's approached the C1E and EIST Enabled situation.

    PS: I gave up smoking 25 years ago.

    The Award BIOS does not raise voltage at idle, the voltage drop when the processor is under load (vdroop). Voltage reulators that will maintain a constant voltage under both idle and load will cost more $$$.

    The Phoenix BIOS seems to do the "right" thing, how do they decide what "right" is IDK.
    Dynamic Vcore is implemented on GB new boards, but it is controlled by the user.

    Chike,
    You're right, I said it wrong - the Award BIOS lowers the Voltage when the system goes under load and the Phoenix BIOS raises the voltage when under load. The end result is both BIOS's end up with the Vcore - Vdroop voltage under load. So if I understand you correctly, when I buy my next Gigabyte MB that supports the I series of processors and DDR3 memory I'll get the option to make it act somewhat like the Phoenix BIOS on the "old" abit MB?

    My understanding is that some new BIOSes for some board supports that feature.
    Check the BIOS sticky and search the forum for "Dynamic Vcore".
