    Default Intel® Core™ i7-960 LGA1366 Socket?

    1. What URL shows me exactly what Intel's suggested temperatures are for the i7-960 when idle. And maximum temperatures, when Gaming for example?

    So far I've found the following but it's all to confusing.

    2. And if someone ever OCed, which setting insures the system will shut down automatically if the CPU gets too hot and therefore 99.999% of the time it should left enabled?

    There are no suggested idle temperatures, the temp sensors aren't even designed to be accurate for measuring idle temperatures.

    The maximum temperature is Tjmax, not sure what that is for the 960 (something like 100C). At this temp the CPU will start throttling because higher temps may cause damage.

    Don't worry about the temp getting to high when OCing. When OCing, the PC will crash before the CPU reaches a temperature that could damage it anyway (the crash by itself does not damage the CPU!).
