    Default Overlocking GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 1.0)

I'm in the process of overlocking an i7 for the first time and want to make sure that I'm on the right track.

    My question is as followes:
If I follow the Gigabyte i7 overclocking to 4ghz guide, will all the options be applicable to my motherboard. Are there any recommended bios versions to flash on this board?

Is there anything else that I should consider?

    Here are my system specs:

    Motherboard
    GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 1.0)

it will be hard to get your ram running at 1600mhz with 12gb,you can follow the guide in my sig but for 12gb of ram i would set the qpi voltage to 1.35v to start with, set all the ram timings according to your ram, also you may need more cpu voltage,if it doesnt post with my sig settings try with 1.23000 cpu v

Thanks for the advice, I'll give this a shot today.

Am I better off going with different RAM or is it just the fact that I've got 12 gigs?

its because you have 2 6gb kits, its easier with a 12gb matched kit but you will run your ram with some tweaking

Well...Not sure if that's normal....I use this board of gigabyte, so I am just raising the base clock...I just raised it twice and it worked and I was still able to get into window, and everything seemed to be ok. But the led, which indicate overclocking, Frequency Led. OFF is normal, and F_led~F_led: Blue... So when I get to 3.64 by raising the b-clock twice, one blue led turned on, not sure if this is normal? Have you guys had this led on when you guys reach or beyond 3.50?

I don't claim to be an expert but:
I posted my settings here: http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/plea...8a-ud3r-38298/

The only thing I've changed is my vCore. It has been bumped up to 1.34 (bios). I believe I am stable at this point.

Watch your temps as I don't know how well your H50 will do. Let us know where you get.

Well...I just raised my CPU ratio multiplier since it is unlocked and I manage to get into the window login screen, and I don't raise my bclock as it will also raise the speed of other components. The question is shall I set my ram to 1600 and the voltage 1.65v with X.M.P enabled? If I raise my bclock to 3.8 by initially setting my ram multiplier to the lowest before start clocking, my ram would go beyond 1800mhz, and then my system refuses to boot. I have tried this, my system just kept rebooting without letting me get into the BIOS. As soon as it booted, it shut itself off if I raised the base clock to 3.8 by setting my ram to 1800mhz. At the same time, there is no way for me to set the voltage after I raised 0.5, basically the PC wouldn't boot, so I had to reset the CMOS.

BTW, Blackup, would you keep me posted how your system's condition is? Does it survive the 24 hours' overnight test?
