    Question Tripple vs Dual

I wondered what would be the differences between 3 x 2Gb of Tripple channel vs 4 x 2 Gb Dual channel as for performance and overclocking ?

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this...

    Default Re: Tripple vs Dual

That is a bit apples to oranges, isn't it? I mean you would use the dual channel setup with dual channel memory controller, and the triple with triple. And the controllers are different.

But assuming you do compare 3*2 to 4*2 with your i7-920, how does the CPU access the 4 modules? Either by 3+1 or 2+2, or in worst case all as single-channel. So it will always have some performance degradation. On the other hand you do get a bit more RAM, and you probably won't notice the bandwidth difference in practice.
