I don't like either TX-3 or MX-3, I suggest TX-2 is the best IMO still.

    AS5 is old news

Yes sounds like you need a better cooler, you should look at thermolab or thermalright, maybe Noctua if you can afford them

My mind is set on this - Noctua NH-C12P SE14 CPU Cooler Introduction :: TweakTown

I love the concept and looks, and since I really don't plan on any super overclocks it's good enough for my needs. Just waiting for my next pay period :)

I didn't read that or any other review, is this cooler known to cool i7 1336 well?

If not you may want to still look at others, that one looks kinda budget compared to the Noctua's I meant when I mentioned them

Yes. In fact if you go to Noctura's website FAQ section, they list the Gigabyte i7 boards as compatible. And website reviews as well as Noctura has stated this is an i7 cooler.

Noctua.at - sound-optimised premium components "Designed in Austria"!

The "only" concern I have is will my memory modules get in the way, Notura recommends I remove the heatsink from the module, but this article, and photo, suggests differently - techPowerUp :: Noctua NH-C12P SE14 Review :: Page 4 / 6

    Attachment 2541

I'm still currently researching that issue, so....

Compatible and works well for cooling are two VERY different things, so you may want to google around before making any purchases otherwise you might end up with the same temps or not much different.

I don't know what gave you the impression that I didn't do research considering I've left a couple of links. You admit you've not looked at any reviews on the cooler, you might want to do that before passing final judgement. It might not be "top" dog but everyone admits it's no slouch either.

    I appreciate the input though.

    Thanks.

And you really should at least check out the review on your site.

    Peace

    Hey Sygnus21

I suggest you buy the Noctua NH-D14 model and not that NH-C12P SE14 model - the D14 performs a whole lot better than C12. Here is a link where it outperforms the Thermalright FX-14 (which is what I have) and the NH-D14 still performs the best from all the reviews I have read on the matter.

Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler: One Step Ahead (page 7) - X-bit labs

Just put this in so you can compare the difference between the two models.

the Noctua NH-D14 is a dual radiator heatsink and will be even wider,go for a NH-U12P model or a true 120,can you take pics of the megahalem??? im sure it would clear your ram,my baram cooler clears my reaper modules and it has big heatpipe coolers on them,it only blocks the first blue ram slot,i have two fans on my cooler aswell
