If you read that review I linked you will see that the NH-D14 actually has some space for tall heat-spreaders, but of course one needs to make sure there is enough. In the article X-bit measures the distance from the mainboard PCB to the lowest heatsink plate to 50 mm - look at picture from X-Bit.

Sorry, I was just trying to help you make sure you get a cooler that will give you decent temps is all.

I didn't have the time yesterday to read the review myself, so I was just wanting to be sure that you looked around at more than one review for temps on coolers with i7 was all.

@ Lsdmeasap, I appreciate the concerns but I do do my homework. Even now I continueing to do so. Thanks.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys.

BTW, Iíve looked at the NH-D14 and that thing is HUGE. I tend to think gravity and stress over the long haul when thinking about mounting one of those big heavy monsters on a board that sits sideways in my case. Now If I had a case where my board sat flat, I might consider a tower type cooler.

Iíve also looked at the NH-U12P but decided on the SE14. And as Iíve said many times, Iím not overclocking that high where heat becomes a destructive factor so.

And thanks for the debate and suggestions; I am listening and it has given me something to think about, but in the end the SE14 is still the leading candidate.

The only issue that will make me drop it though is the clearance question between it and my Dominator RAM sticks. Noctuaís site says it wonít clear it, but I suppose it depends on board and slots used. That Iím still researching.

    Will keep you posted.

    Thanks.

Uh... I just realized (actaully forgot) I have a post here about this Cooler and clearence - http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/noct...ram-fit-39399/. So I would appreciate any further discussions about this cooler be posted there.

LOL a google of "RAM Clearence and SE14" lead me the the above link. Again, please post any further thoughts there.

    Thanks.

Cool, ya I was just trying to help was all.

You know what, if one stick does not fit and you do like that cooler anyway, you could always remove the top fins on the one stick that is in the way.

That is if you have the newer Dominators that have the removable fins

Sorry about the late reply. For some reason I'm not getting my notifications like I used to. I think the problem is fixed now.

At any rate that was my thought as Noctua actually suggests that as well. In fact they show an photo of it. Noctua.at - sound-optimised premium components "Designed in Austria"!

And I do have the newer sticks with the removable heatsinks.

    Thanks.

Ahh ok, so all is well now?

Did you get the new heatsink, or not yet?

Cool to see they though the same as me, and great to hear you can do this if needed too!
