I have a similar setup I am looking to OC for the first time:

    i7 930
    x58a-ud5 (rev 2)
    G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ
Cooler Master RR-B10-212P-G1 Hyper 212 Plus 775/1156/1366/AMD/AM2/AM3 Universal Direct Contact Heat-Pipe 120mm Fan CPU Cooler
    Hackint0sh 10.6.5
    Windows 7

I also have a set of 3 x 1GB DDR3 PC 3 8500 ram I can throw in, if it doesn't hurt to mix ram.

I'm an OC n00b, so just looking for the best settings I should be using in the BIOS. Don't need to push my computer to the absolute limit, but 4 gHz would be nice.

Thanks in advance for your help!

the reason for using a 21x as opposed to a 22x cpu multi is its usually more stable with an odd multi and use less voltage

its up to you,it might reduce your ram speed due to being unstable at higher speeds with the more ram you have, you will need more qpi/vtt voltage too,try with just 6gb first then get it all stable then add the extra 3gb later and adjust voltages if needed

Voltage on Vcore (from main MB Tweak screen) reads 1.264 V. Dram voltage reads 1.520.

This is after setting CPU to normal setup @ 1.3 V, with DVID @ .075. Should I be setting my QPI/VTT to 1.175 or 1.315 v? It is currently @ 1.15 (Auto)

Is that what you were looking for?

    Thanks!

try with 1.315v for qpi/vtt,it will need more at 4ghz,then set dram to 1.5v if its rated at that(read on the module for correct ram voltage)or 1.66 if rams rated at 1.65v,then try dvid on normal for now and test it,if its unstable set to +0.0200 or near abouts

just type in settings from the template above adding in these values where needed instead and try, download coretemps aswell to keep eye on cpu temps, dont let it go above 80c

CPU tem gets up to 100 when I try encoding via Handbrake. I'm guessing this is a bit high. What should I adjust to tone it down a notch or two?
