    Question Question re: bios settings & RealTemp for EP45-UD3P (1.6)

    All -

    Thanks in advance for any/all help! I am currently in the midst of trying to figure out why RealTemp's sensor test is causing my system to freeze when closing prime95 and figured I would come to the experts and see how my settings were looking for my bios with my specs. Although I'd like to pass said test; I am more concerned that my settings are completely optimized for my components, like the Vcore on a quad system, etc...

    Note, I'm not overclocking so these would all be optimum for stock speeds.

    Any feedback from you guys would be really appreciated!

    Load BIOS optimized defalts, save reboot, make any changes nesessary like disk boot order, then the following changes in M.I.T:

    Are you using the latest versions of Prime95 and CoreTemp?
    Your problem might be related to using 8GB of memory.
    MCH Core = 1.28 might be needed.

    Some systems have stability issues even at stock settings.
    Using the recommended settings in this post have fixed problems for many forum members when they have problems at stock settings.

    Thanks!!

    I'll have that info asap, but I also tested the coretemp sensor test with my old dual core 8400 and got the same error at the same point.

    If i have EIST enabled it fails, if I disable it it works. This goes for the dual and quad core, so I think it's a mobo issue rather than the processor.

    It might be a bios related issue.
    Sometimes the latest & greatest beta bios version isn't!!
    You might want to try the most recent "final" bios version.
    Setting Legacy USB Storage Detect = Enabled sometimes causes problems when overclocking. This might also be an issue with your current bios version with stock settings.

    Checking in -

    I've run Prime95 & OCCT for extended periods and no freezes! I also have run memtest+ for around 12 passes with no problems. So the only two thing I have questions on now are: 1) I have an issue recently [since my upgrades/bios tweaking-update] where when I restart the computer, I'll get a "hiccup" or reboot loop, and when the computer gets out of said loop my bios has been completely reset? I was thinking this might be a bad battery on the mobo? Or possibly the CMOS is just in need of a good clear? It is very peculiar to say the least. Which leads to 2) here are my updated settings, screen shots, etc... should these be tweaked more to prevent this reboot issue? And if not, considering my specs do things look pretty kosher?

    I really appreciate the help prof!

    The cpu clock ratio is missing from your posted bios settings, I assume that you are using 9.0 x 333MHz.
    Set tRFC = 78 and see if your problems persist.

    I'm aware that the G.Skill forums suggest MCH Core = 1.40 with 8GB of memory. Most EP45 systems are happy with MCH Core = 1.28 - 1.32, possibly up to 1.36.

    When there are multiple boot loops, your system will often try booting where the bios applies "safe" default settings. You should see the lowered cpu and memory speeds during the initial boot screen. If you immediately enter the bios and enter the MIT menu, you will be greeted with a red error message box.

    You might need to test with only 4GB of memory (and a lower MCH Core setting) and see if the problems still exist.
