Default how ca i get audio with HDMI connection

    i have a GA-MA785GM-US2H ver 1.0 mother board.
    OS is XP PRO

i have connected to my LG TV with HDMI cable. The vidio is great but i can not find any way to get audio. My xbox360 is connected to the other HDMI port and i get great vidio and audio.

I'm not immediately familiar with your model of board, but am assuming the HDMI output is part of the onboard connections.
You might want to check to ensure it's not video only. I know some HDMI ports don't support sound as well and some only support pass-through.
Looking at the specs for your board it appears as though the HDMI is only being referenced for the video signal with audio being supported through SPDIF Out.

thanks jerm1970 for the reply. i see what you see in the MB manual spec about audio but page 20 tells about the HDMI port and mentions how to get it to work with Vista.
That is also how you get it to work with XP but only if you only use one monitor. i was using and would still like to use two monitors. the little one so i can play with the PC while the family can watch the TV.
I got vidio using clone but no audio.

if anyone knows how to get both vidio and audio on both monitors please let me know. for now i will just plug and unplug the monitor cables

I have the same motherboard, to use HDMI audio, I go into the speaker options and set HDMI to default instead of speakers, this throw the audio to ny LG TV, then do the reverse when the computer speakers are to be used again. This works in Windows Vista and Windows 7, I am not sure whether this is going to work in Windows XP, you may also need to make sure you have the latest ATI drivers as well...

thanks Dragon965- i gave up trying to have both a monitor and the TV hooked up at the same time. the idea was the family could watch the TV while i was on the PC. with only the TV hooked up via HDMI everything works great
