Hmm seems weird though as that would be a throttling issue and im not sure at what temps they throttle. Though the temps should be fairly the same you'd think :S

The fact you never go above 600mhz is strange in itself. Id swap the cards round to see if it does the same, if it doesnt, then id send the card back for a replacement.

You could also try just with the one card (the one that wont go above 600mhz) and see what that does on its own.

Im suprised gaming is fine with 2 different speeds. Im using the 5970, if i overclocked one GPU and not the other it wouldnt run properly. I know your not overclocking, just making the point about the difference in speeds.

Hi I've been reading this thread and Im new to the forums

Basically I have a gv-r587ud-1gb same model as most people in this thread.

Running at default BIOS and catalyst 10.3

Only problem im having is that I can't playback HD and crashes. But it's fine if i disable DXVA in my media player classic settings.

So what bios should i be updated to ? F6_A with catalyst 10.3 ? OR should I update my catalyst to latest 10.5 beta ones ?

I've never really come across complications with ATI drivers but this one is slightly annoying. I didn't want to RMA to a different brand as this one is quieter than reference boards.

I've been using a 4850 for 1.5 years before this GIgabyte 5870, no problems prior.

Thats because of the way the 2d clocks have changed since Cat 9 to Cat 10 - The problem is gone in Cat 10.x (this is the latest, have downloaded but havent tested yet)

The problem occurs (with current drivers) when the clock speed changes from 2d to 3d.

The new drivers go from one extreme to the other so id actually downclock if your going to use the latest drivers, or upclock if your going to stick with the current drivers.

If you need some help doing so can you post up your default profile showing your clock speeds.

I meant to see what your 2d idle clocks was ;)

Go to Computer -Local Disk - Users - "YOUR COMPUTER" - AppData - Local - ATI - ACE - Profiles

Right click on your profile, choose edit. Copy and paste the 3 values from

    CoreClockTarget_0
    MemoryClockTarget_0

You need to have "show hidden files" switched on.

BTW: Do you get audio dropouts in full screen video when streaming? If so right click when watching a vid on youtube etc, choose settings, and untick "enable hardware acceleration"

Seems to be a bug when playing audio over HDMI with current drivers

Great, another person with a random profile. According to your profile your clocks dont have any step-ups, just like the previous person on this thread :S

If you open up CCC, what does it say under current values when your on the desktop? 850/1200?
