    The 8-8-8-24 timings should be good up to DDR-1777 (444MHz FSB x 4.00D) the you'd have to change to 9-9-9-27.

    Memtest96+ is not enough, run Prime95 blend torture for 8-12 hours afterwards, if it fail remember the FFT size that failed.
    What kind of cooling you have, case and CPU, what are core teperatures under load?

    EDIT: yes load optimized defaults after you flash, save reboot and reapply changes.

    I have updated my sig - see specs there.

    Even at 3.8 Ghz OC during a P95 torture test, max CPU temps stay below 50C. (see the last 3 rows in the table I placed into my first post in this thread - last column is cpu temp)

    I understand that Memtest86+ is not enough for long term stability checking. It has been useful to quickly find major issues with this RAM though. Once I get a good idea of where I can expect to be stable at, I will run a 12-hour P95 test.

    I would love to get 1600 stable in dual channel.

    What are your thoughts regarding that I can pass Memtest 100% consistently at 500MHz FSB and DDR2000 when I have only one RAM stick installed?

    Monitor core temperatures also with RealTemp or CoreTemp, we are more familiar with those.

    You may find that there is not much difference between DDR-1333 with tighter timings compared to DDR-1600, once the system is stable we can test this.

    MCH Core mainly. With tRD(Static tRead Value in BIOS, Performance Level in MemSet) 10 and 9-10-10-24 timings, current settings are not much on the performance side, less stress on the NB.


    I have read the XMP wrong, you can try timings 8-8-8-22 for DDR-1600.

    Ok so I upgraded to the newest BIOS last night, that went smoothly. I ran a few tests and so far the behavior seems to be the same as with the older BIOS.

    So onward we go :)

    I have started using RealTemp - the results seem to be the same as I was seeing in Speedfan. Stayed below 50C during 8hr torture test. Screengrab right after that p95 run:




    Here are my updated test cases: (13-17). DDR3-1333 and CPU@3.8GHz seems stable. DDR-1600 fails to POST - tried it a few slightly different ways. I do not yet have the knowledge of what other voltages to adjust.

    OK, so that is not too bad but still this mobo should be able to run this RAM at 1600 easy if not 2000....in dual channel....

    Memory settings are OK, set Static tRead Value 9 for both channels.
    To be on the safe side set tRAS 24 for now.
    Set the following manually:

    I was not able to understand how to adjust the MCH Reference from that link - a bit confusing and all the pictures are borked.

    I did two more experiments to try ddr-1600 with slight variations based on your above suggestions. Also loosened the timings. Both failed to post. What should I try next? or tell me a couple specific scenarios to try, including MCH Ref?

    Is your Static tRead Value set manually? if 9 doesn't work try 10.
    With try2 settings current settings:
    1 Set VTT(CPU Termination) to 1.2v
    2 Set MCH Reference to 0.74(one step below default)
    3 Set VTT back to 1.24 (CPU Reference wil scale up with VTT)

    Repeat with 0.72 and 0.700, then 0.78, 0.80 and .82 until you find stable settings.

    Whoops, forgot to mention in last post that Static tRead Value (under 'Channel A/B Timing Settings") for both channels was alraedy set automatically to 9, so I left it like that....

    Set it 10 to narrow posinilities, and try the MCH Reference.

    Ouch! Sorry, I was not aware the photo's were like that in my guide!

    I will try to see if I can get them fixed, if not they wont be back online until the 1st of April. May not be able to pay photobucket premiums, I need to start spacing guide and review images out among a few accounts. Sorry for this issue!
