    Slightly off topic: WD 20EARS does have 4k sectors, right? That is a potential "partition alignment" issue, although it is only about performance, and is not related to size limits.

    Hmm, Maybe that does matter?

    Are you using XP for these drives? If so you may need to align them based on what is said by users in comments 1+3 on the overview tab here at newegg

    It may only affect performance, but not sure as several people mention size as what this is suppose to improve?

    Does seem to be a high number of DOA's with this model, so you may need to contact WD directly to see if this issue means the drive is faulty, or if the above is causing it?
