    Default EX58-UD3R I7-920 Overclocking

    Im interested in overclocking. However, I have some minor issues. Im not a newbie building computers, but for whatever reason I cant find the bios version on boot up. I've paused the boot screen and I can find the version anywhere. I have updated the bios thru Windows though with Bios Update. Secondly, Easy Tune will not run at all. I have tried 3 times (install/uninstall) even went to GA downloaded the latest version and still wont run. Im also not sure if I have a C0 or D0 chip. Box doesnt say anything.

    Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    Look at the S-spec code on the processor box. D0 stepping has S-spec of SLBEJ. Do not flash your BIOS in Windows, there is a good chance you might brick your board. Use the Q-Flash function built into the BIOS. The top of the forum has a stickied topic how to do it. Also stickied is a topic on latest overclocking programs, system info, etc. There you will find a link to CPU-Z 1.54. Download, unzip and run it, on the mainboard tab it will list the BIOS version. Can't help you with EasyTune since I don't use it.

    heres settings for 3.8ghz,if you want to clock lower then adjust bclk/memory multi and uncore freq to suit keep voltages the same maybe lower qpiv to 1.26

    BIOS version can be found in the BIOS by pressing F9 on the MAIN BIOS screen.

    Easytune, you need to use the latest BIOS. Then when you start it look in the toolbar by your clock icons after 30 seconds or so, then you should see it. It is not advised to use this for overclocking though, testing with it is ok or using it to check settings, ect, but all overclocking should be done in the BIOS

    Lsdmeasap. I must have been modifying my original post. See above for my settings, BIOS version. Checked CPU speed with CPUZ and is only showing 2.67 GHZ. Esdy Tube loaded and its showing 3.6. Its bouncing back and forth between 2.6 and 3.6.

    Also what program should I run for stability checks?

    Ahh ok!

    You have speedstep enabled, you need to disable C1E and EIST in the BIOS to stop it from jumping from 2.6 to 3.6. I suggest you use Prime95 or Orthos, and Memtest86+ 4.0 for testing, you can get them here

    Im a bit confused on the BIOS Ver. GA-EX58-UD3R (rev. 1.7) - GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - BIOS has the latest version as FI for the rev 1.7 board.

    Sorry, I missed you had 1.7 and said FI, I thought you said F1 and had a different revision board. You are fine with BIOS!
