Angry I need help ! Ram issues

Ok just built a new rig, went from evga mobo to gigabyte (thinking was a bad decision at this point). I got X58A UD3R running vista 64 ultimate, 2 5770 xfx cards crossfired, 6gb ocz 1600,750w ps ultra, i7 920.
Ok found out had a bad stick or ram or so i think. In bios on stick was not reading timings i assume that stick was bad so i tried i another slot same issue in bios no reading timings. In process of rma on that stick. So now i have 4 gb ram.. Ok, boot into windows after removed bad stick checked system info running 4gb ram showing 4gb available? Cool ill just wait to get new stick, WRONG, boot back up later today now saying 4gb ram installed but 3.25 available. WHAT THE CRAP!!! please help (and yes bios is newest available, and in bios its showing all 4 gb of ram? I am a fairly smart pc guy but this has me bufooseled???

test each stick in first white ram slot from cpu socket,it will boot if your ram module is working, test all three sticks then do the same for next two white slots.if it boots from each stick and each slot then its likely your voltages ie qpi and dram

it could be a faulty ram slot, does the computer boot up with one stick in first white slot from cpu socket?? will it boot from al 3 sticks in that slot? set ram voltage to 1.66 and qpi to 1.2800000 then see if it will run

Most often this is bent CPU Socket pins, please check your CPU Socket. If you have ANY bent pins this is the cause.

Shorts can also cause this, as well as incorrect settings. If you are testing only one stick at a time though, it can't be settings. If it only happens with one white slot, and no other white slots, then it is either a bent pin or three, or a short by your heatsink or otherwise.

So, you had bent CPU socket pins? Just checking, since you said fans, I wanted to be sure if you meant fans or pins.

One slot or more could be defective, if you have bent CPU Socket pins. That is where the memory controller is, so bent pins = messed up memory slots.

They wont RMA for bent pins, most places. So you will likely have to argue very nicely :)
