Thanks :D What's the consensus on Load Line Calibration? I've read all kinds of stuff, nothing really getting me anywhere.

I suggest the use of it, it's one of those "everyone has their own opinion" type of things.

Alright, after a bunch of trial and error I think I'm making pretty good progress (waits for computer to freeze up). :)

I'm 2 hours 45 minutes into a Prime95 Large FFT's run right now (still going) on this setup:

I know the memory is rock solid, it's just a matter of tweaking CPU and FSB but it's looking good :) I've played a bit with the clock skews and drives and this seems the most stable so it's just a matter of voltages and references. Since my computer mysteriously likes shutting off while I sleep*, I'll only Prime during the day. Any positive/negative comments on the template? I think the volts are acceptable and I might be able to lower them.

You don't have to pay attention or read this bit if you don't want, it's just a little background on why I don't Prime overnight now:
*The computer shutting off is a weird thing. I have it set to a "overclocking" power profile where power savings, sleep, hdd shut down, and lcd sleep are disabled. Yet I wake up and it's not running. I have to turn it on via the power button (so it's not sleeping) and upon startup, Windows doesn't mention shutting down improperly. No updates were installed either. Prime95 log just ends, no errors. It's happened 3 times, I've checked the Prime log 2 of the times. The first time it went about 6 hours, 2nd it went about 3-4. I highly doubt it's the PSU now since I can play BF2 while running Prime without a problem as well as high demand games. Also, if it was a PSU problem, it would be a improper shutdown and Windows would complain. Is there some kinda BIOS setting that enables a sleep or something? It's not really that big of a deal since normally I would like it to sleep and I don't usually run it at night, it's just some odd behavior.

Looks ok to me, good luck on continued testing!

Not sure what you mean in regards to overclocking power profile, which plan do you have set? There is BIOS setting to choose S1 or S3 sleep, but it is the OS that actually puts the system to sleep. I agree, doesn't sound like it is sleeping or even trying and failing, otherwise if you had issues and had to turn it on from sleep failure it would say "Resuming Windows" on startup. Sounds to me like it is hard failing, where the system does not have enough time to make a memory dump, or log that the system failed so you would see the screen you choose normal startup, last known good, ect.

If you want it to sleep you need to be 100% stable first before even trying. If you are trying to make it sleep now, not sure by your comments, then you may not be stable if you are and it is failing.

It's nice to see you say that it looks ok :)

The overclocking power profile I'm talking about is a custom one I made to disable all of that. I have no idea how Windows works internally but isn't there some kind of flag that's set and until it goes through it's "shutting down" process, that flag says that the system hasn't shut down properly yet? If I were to pull the power plug out, the computer wouldn't know and couldn't write to a log file saying that it shut down improperly. You know what I mean? So in cases of power failure either inside the computer or in the grid, Windows would still tell you that it shut down improperly. Again, I'm talking out of my ass since I don't know how Windows works. I just know that it shuts down while I sleep and doesn't when I game which should put more load on the PSU since it's using the CPU and GPU. I mean, I even ran Prime95 while playing GTA4 (highest settings that max my GPU) and it didn't shut down.

    *EDIT*
Oh, and I don't really want it to sleep or hibernate. Speedstep would be nice but... one step at a time (no pun intended) :P

Anyway, it'll be nice when I get this sorted out. I'll definitely keep posting back with updated and tweaked templates in case someone might benefit from my troubles :)

Yes, what you say kinda happens like that, but if there is a freeze or hard fault where the board shuts down instantly or cannot write to the page file and logs then that wouldn't be able to happen. No, if you pull the plug or power is cut otherwise, it wont be able to know always that it happened, just depends I suppose.

Show me pics of what you changed/set, all pics of your power plan, advanced power plan, and sleep settings.

Hmmm, well I'm not about to try my theory on power failure :) I think I'll ignore it unless it starts happening more. Here's the screenshot, not sure what else there is; http://dl.dropbox.com/u/464376/lsdmescreen.PNG

*EDIT* Maybe I should just try the "High Performance" profile instead? Or maybe I'll just drink a lot of coffee and watch it all night :D

Also, to make this weirder, I ran over 9 hours in Prime during the day while I used the computer with the settings that the previous night had mysteriously shut down. In 9 hours, it couldn't replicate what it did in 3-4.

Edited previous post. I think the "Overclocking" profile I made was based off of the High Performance one. But if you mean which one I'm currently using, I've been using my custom one for well over a week, probably weeks now.

*EDIT* It's bed time for me lol. Thanks yet again for the help and advice :)

I use the plan you mention, then make any changes I need/want to.

Maybe your better half is shutting off the PC when you are sleeping and just does not want to tell you?

Ya, I meant power saving, balanced, or high performance. You always use one of them, then make your changes you showed me. So whichever you were using, maybe a problem? Not sure, based on your settings you showed it should never automatically sleep no matter which plan you choose and edited.

Anytime, I am here to help, when I can help that is :)

I need some sleep too, see ya tomorrow
