    Thanks to a ton of google searches and many posts as well as knowledge from Chike and lsdmeasap, I've come up with a couple of things. Unfortunately, I'm still having trouble :)

    First, a stable overclock! It's what I'm currently running and it had no problems with 8+ hours of Prime95, the hour-long OCCT Linpack test, and Memtest:

    Unfortunately, I would like to have more. Luckily I found someone with almost the same setup as me (1200MHz RAM instead of 1066MHz, but still 8GB) and he's got to a whopping 4.36GHz Naturally, I messaged freakb18c1 on overclock.net and he was kind enough to pass along his template. But, since he doesn't have my EXACT setup, it's not stable for me. But with a little tweaking, it's the closest I've gotten to my goal. It goes for about an hour in Prime95 Blend and then 2 cores error out. I stopped the test and left the house for a while and came back a few hours later to a BSOD. Here's the template on that:

    His original template immediately froze my computer in Prime95. I had to use a different latch/multiplier than he did since my RAM can't hit 1200+. I also went 1 step higher on MCH reference than he did and stock CPU reference. He has stock PLL and I tried that as well as +1 but it didn't seem to make a difference. I don't think I need that high of MCH core voltage since I'm hoping to run my RAM slower as well as a 1:1 ratio.

    Any thoughts on how to improve either setup?

    Woot, thanks :) I'll have to try that in a few days. I was kind of not really thinking when I got my board and immediately replaced all TIM and thermal pads with AS5. I did a cleaning yesterday and figured I would re-do the fans on the northbridge and I took everything apart. Come to find out, the southbridge is poorly covered and the AS5 has actually tried/seperated and some of the mosfets weren't touching the heatsink. This might be some of the instability I've seen. I ordered new thermal pads today and should get them earlier next week, then I'll test :)

    Please tell me you did not put AS5 on the Mosfets!!!!

    Mosfets should NEVER get AS5 on them, and you should either put the pads back on (Suggested) or use your own screws/nuts so that they make proper contact if you are using paste instead of the pads.

    If you want to use paste that is OK, but you MUST use Non Conductive/Non Capacitive paste such as TX-2 or MX-2, and you must use your own screws/nuts otherwise there will not be proper contact between the Mosfets and the heatpipe.

    I say NEVER AS5 on the mosfets because I have seen several times this caused a short by being squeezed down onto the connections on Mosfets/PCB.

    Yea... I did I'm not so much concerned about the capacitive quality of AS5 as I am the heat, the AS5 was dried and some mosfets weren't touching the heatsink. 2nd bad news: I looked yesterday and saw that not only did I remove the thermal pads, I threw them away. I really don't know what I was thinking. I think what saved me is that I used too little AS5 and not enough mounting pressure to squeeze it around.

    I read up and found this:
    EK Replacement Motherboard Mosfet Block Thermal Pad (90mm x 15mm) - (680i / 790i / Asus1,2,3,3a / GA X38 / Others) - FrozenCPU.com

    I will have to cut it down but it should do the trick and be as good if not better than OEM.

    Ah, another lesson learned :P At least I don't think I damaged anything this time unlike previous motherboards lol.

    Well please clean it up good using some CPU Cleaning paste or alcohol.

    If those pads don't work for you let me know and I can show you some others you could order and use. Hope you bought 2 right?

    Yea, I have some 92% (I think) alcohol that I'm going to clean it all up with. I did order 2 pads, they should work if they're meant for water blocks. What ones did you see? The EK ones were the only ones I could find :( I also have some spiffy thermal tape coming that's supposed to be the best that I'm going to try out on some other items before I put it on my mobo.

    Those you linked are fine to use for waterblocks or not. I just meant I could show you some at other shops was all, they would have been similar just maybe different sizes, brands, or prices is all. If you need me to I can find and post some links to some others for you, but those are fine.

    Thermal tape I would not use for those, in case you were thinking about it. Those should only be used for small heatsinks, like the little ones you would add on GFX memory, or the single tiny square mosfet coolers

    Ah I see. I did a little shopping around and other stores had the same brand and in a few minutes of searching, FrozenCPU had a better deal as far as I could tell.

    I was contemplating using thermal tape but I really hate to do things to electronics that may alter their resale value and maybe the person I sell this to may want to do a water setup or something. Gigabyte went with thermal pads, that's good enough for me. Lesson definitely learned :P A look on the bright side... I got to re-do my case and all the wiring :) I'll be back towards the middle of the week with either a successful template or not. Thanks for the help.
