That Crucial set looks pretty awesome but there's literally only 3 places that sell it and it's $70 more than the G.Skill I have currently. This OCZ PC3-12800 8-8-8-24 kit is above half way between at $40 more which is a bit more reasonable (provided I can sell the RMA'd kit).

    Thoughts?

I can't really comment on OCZ memory, never used it myself so you will have to look around and see if others have successfully used it on this board.

Those Crucial's are nice, but they are not the greatest of overclockers, you could probably get the regular Crucial sets (Not Tracer) for a little less maybe closer to the price of the OCZ you linked, that might be a good solution.

    No Mushkin's there?

Nup, doesn't look like there's any Mushkin RAM in Aus currently.

Those are the timings of this G.Skill kit too.

Perhaps I should just wait for a replacement kit to arrive and make sure they work first.

Well I think a replacement kit via RMA would be the same as you have now most likely, since you tested each stick one by one and they all pass fine.

Of course it could be a slight issue that tests are not pickup up on I suppose, so maybe you are right and should wait until you see if the new kit acts the same or not.

I had trouble with my UD5 and the ocz 1600 low voltage kit.. kept losing memory like the original issue you had. Then again.. i've swapped out for a new ud5 and some gskill and still have the problem. I've grown to live with it.

    Hi,

I have been watching this thread very closly as I was having the exact same problems with my X58A-UDR3 motherboard. I had to register to share my story and hopefully help out. Here was my spec while I was having trouble, including the G.Skill memory I was using.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Model Name : GA-X58A-UD3R(rev. 1.0)
    --------------------------
    M/B Rev : 1.0
BIOS Ver : started at F4, updated to F5, currently using F6Beta
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    VGA Brand : Powercolor Model : 5850 PC+
    CPU Brand : Intel Model : 930 Speed : 2.8 GHz
    Operation System : Win 7 64-bit SP :
    Memory Brand : G.Skill Type : DDR3
    Memory Size : 6 GB Speed : 1600
    Power Supply : 750 W

    RAM is DDR3-1600 PC3-12800. 2048MBx3 CL9-9-9-24 1.5V
    G.Skill F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ

I tried everything I saw in this thread and nothing could get my motherboard to recognize all 6GB with any regularity. I did not have a bent CPU pin. I was working with a Gigabyte tech by email that finally said to RMA the motherboard - but I didn't do that.

I finally bought different memory, and after 1 day and several reboots it is solid as a rock (knock on wood). I will post back after a few days to let you know if it still is working perfectly.

On a recommendation from the store employee, I bought:
Patriot Extreme Performance Viper Series DDR3 6GB (3 x 2GB) PC3-12800 Low Latency Triple Channel Kit

    Part #: PVT36G1600LLK

    Extreme Performance PC3-12800 (1600MHz)
    Low Latency (8-8-8-24)

I switched everything in the Bios back to Auto and used the XMP profile. Everything is good - 1 day and counting.

Thanks for all the suggestions in this thread. They have been VERY helpful and informative.

Let us know if things continue to work well Stain. I'm still without a HDD for a while so I'm in no rush but I'm definitely leaning towards a completely new kit.
