Cool, I am glad you finally are able to keep all 6GB.

All you have been through with this issue, and not giving up makes you a champ for sticking it out, sorry it took so long to get it all sorted out!

The graphics card is Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD5870 Ultra Durable 1GB (GV-R587UD-1GD) and shipped with F3 BIOS. Updating to F7 (latest) fixed it.

    Hey folks,

I'm trying to push it further and I'm having some stability issues beyond FSB 170mhz. I was getting BSoDs moments into prime with codes of 0x101 (not enough VCore) and 0x1E (?) so I increased the CPU's voltage from 1.25V but still occurred. Higher still?

    Using the settings atm:

Side-note: is the increased FSB/clock speed worth the reduction in RAM speed? I guess ideally you'd get to 200MHz FSB with a 8x ram multiplier to get back to the spec 1600MHz.

Yes, set more Vcore, it is so much easier to use a higher Vcore and lower later, than trying to inch your way around to find a low Vcore.

Ya 200 Bclk with Ram at 1600 is what you want to hit.

    Try this for that :)
    Code:
    Advanced CPU Features:
    CPU Clock Ratio ............................ [21x]
Intel(R) Turbo Boost Tech .................. [Enabled] << Disabled and set 21 above

I got a couple of freezes during boot so I bumped VCore to 1.33750V and QPI to 1.34V and got a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION bsod (0x3B) during windows logo. One Google result suggested bumping CPU PLL up a bit (the next nodge up is 1.84V) - is that safe?

The spec for my memory is 1.5V, not sure if it's worth going to 1.66V. And my CPU is a D0 for what it's worth - I've read they can use much lower VCore?

This for the settings above you mean?

Yes PLL 1.84 is fine to use, I'd actually try more QPI as well.

No need to push your ram to 1.66, I just mentioned that since 1.65 is the norm, you are good with the rated spec voltage 1.5

Settings are as in your post bar the changes I mention. I got to the Windows login screen once with CPU PLL @ 1.84V and QPI at 1.36V but then it froze.

did you try with your dram voltage set to 1.66?? see if it gets past windows log on screen?keep cpu and qpi/vtt voltages the same
