Default Help me! GA-EP45-UD3R Integrated Peripherals bios setting

    Hello

    Excuse my english

I have a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R and three sata HD connected to yellow sata connector 0, 1, 2.

Two ssata Optical Drives (Pioneer 215 & Optiarc 7240) connected to yellow sata connectors 4 & 5.

When i attempt install Windows XP in AHCI mode before to start from WXP CD the screen shows MBR failure and then something about floppy -boot from floppty- (I have floppy drive installed) but nothing abaut optical drive.

It seems the donīt see the optical drive.

If i install WXP in ide mode no problem but iīm interesting in AHCI because i have a rack and i need Hot swap.

Help me to setting Integrated Peripherals bios setting and/or to se where is the problem.

    Thanks

you need to download the ahci drivers from gigabytes website and install using a floppy disk first by pressing f6,then you can install windows xp after you install ahci drivers.on the website look for ahci pre-install drivers

I have this similar problem, although I am using WIN7 and linux dual boot. If I use AHCI, it comes back with some message that it is not compatible( or something like that), but goes on to boot anyway. Is there a speed penalty if I use IDE with sata2 HDD? I do not have a floppy, is there a way to do it via dvdrom or usb?
    TIA

theres not much difference from ahci or ide, some hard disks perform less using ahci, what os was giving you problems? win7?? you can enable ahci with a reg tweak only for win7 though i dont know about linux.will linux let you use ahci?? you will have to keep switching from ahci to ide if you enable it for win7 and linux wont let you use ahci which is a pain, post back if you want me to paste you the reg tweak to enable it for win7 just want to add its the way gigabyte labels ide/sata its actually in sata mode unless you have ide drives then it will use ide, ahci lets your hard drives use smart and native command queing ect

Thanks. The message comes up while booting, then went on to boot. I can then choose win7 or linux with no problem. Since there is not much difference in speed, I'll leave it on IDE. Thanks for the info.

APC1, did you get this yet?

If not let me know and I will direct you to the driver you need, and show you the correct BIOS settings you should use.
