    Default Slow system Performance

    Hi,
I bought a new pc (assembled one) .its hardwares are given below:
    Motherboard: Gigabyte X58 ud5
    Processor : Intel Core i7
    RAM : Transcend 24B DDR3 x2
Hard Disk : Hitachi 500gb Sata + 1 terabyte segate
    Cabinet : Cooler Master CM
    Monitor : Samsung SyncMaster 20'
DVD Writer : Moserbaer 22x DVD
    Mouse&KB : Logitech
    WebCam : iBall 8mp
    SMPS : Cooler Master 650w
    UPS : APC 1000v VA
My problem is as follows : Normally when i start the computer its taking minimum 4-5 minutes (even to right click on the desktop) once the desktop is started. I have a quad core system in my office its performance is very fast compared to my personal pc(which is having most of the swa including maya,3dsmax and lot of games). And in my personal pc i hav certain games only installed + utorrent , antivirus and spyware (while system start utorrent ,antivirus and spyware are in the start up,before installing these sws also the problems were same).I am a 3d artist , i am afraid to install Maya or max to my pc feeling that it may further slow down the pc. And i used get dr watsan errors (for just opening explorers)randomly and system hang at certain times. Actually i thought that corei7 is the fastest in performance ,but now i am disappointed with my pc. Is this the problem with my motherboard or RAM (i am not using corsair 3x1) or processor OR do i need to change any configuration settings to make my computer work fine?? Any help will be really appreciated.

Note: i have 1.5 terabyte internal hardisk

    Thanks in advance
    shan

Can you link me to your memory, and then give me your full current settings, link in my signature for you to give me your settings.

When you say external disk, do you mean for storage or are you booting your OS from it?

I mean a link to the page you purchased the memory, or give me the model #.

To give me your settings you will have to manually fill them into this template >>
Gigabyte BIOS Templates (To Give Us Your Settings)

Print that out and then go in the BIOS and write down your settings and then post them back here.

If your time is changing, or loosing time, you need a new CR2032 CMOS battery. They are cheap, about $0.50 US Dollar, you should buy one soon before it dies on you and you have to re-enter your settings everyday.

Try these settings for the above posted speeds

    Advanced CPU Features:
    CPU Clock Ratio ................................ [20x]
Intel(R) Turbo Boost Tech .................. [Enabled]
    CPU Cores Enabled ............................ [All]
    CPU Multi Threading .......................... [Enabled]
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) ................... [Enabled]
    C3/C6/C7 State Support .................... [Disabled]
    CPU Thermal Monitor ......................... [Enabled]
    CPU EIST Function ............................ [Enabled]
    Virtualization Technology ................... [Enabled]
    Bi-Directional PROCHOT ..................... [Enabled]

    Uncore & QPI Features:
QPI Link Speed .............................. x36 AUTO << Set manually x36 or x44 both fine for 133 Bclk
Uncore Frequency .......................... AUTO << Set x20-22 manually
    Isonchronous Frequency ..................[Enabled]

    Standard Clock Control:
Base Clock (BCLK) Control ................ [Disabled]
    BCLK Frequency (MHz) ..................... 133
PCI Express Frequency (MHz) ........... [100] AUTO

    C.I.A.2 [Disabled]

    Advanced Clock Control:
    CPU Clock Drive ..............................[800mV]
PCI Express Clock Drive ................... [900mV]
    CPU Clock Skew ............................. [0ps]
    IOH Clock Skew ............................. [0ps]

    Advanced DRAM Features:
Performance Enhance ...................... [TURBO] << Turbo Or Extreme seems to work best so this is fine, or you may want to try extreme
Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P) ......... THIS OPTION IS NOT THERE IN MY BIOS << Memory specific, disable anyway if you did have :)
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) ........ [AUTO] << Set manually, x10 for 1333Mhz memory (133x10=1333)
DRAM Timing Selectable (SPD) .......... [AUTO] << Manual/Expert, then set each channel main timings one by one as posted below

    Channel A + B + C

    Channel A Timing Settings:
    ##Channel A Standard Timing Control##
    CAS Latency Time ......................9
    tRCD ....................................... 9
    tRP ......................................... 9
    tRAS ....................................... 20/24

All auto below here except Command rate

    ##Channel A Advanced Timing Control##
    tRC ........................................ 27 AUTO
    tRRD ....................................... 4 AUTO
    tWTR ...................................... 4 AUTO
    tWR ........................................ 8 AUTO
tWTP ....................................... THIS OPTION IS NOT THERE IN MY BIOS << Should be, both of these. Are you using old BIOS? Old bios could be cause of many problems for you, please post image of CPU-z Mainboard tab and SPD Tab requested below for command rate

tWL ........................................ THIS OPTION IS NOT THERE IN MY BIOS
    tRFC ....................................... 60 AUTO
    tRTP ....................................... 4 AUTO
    tFAW ...................................... 16 AUTO
Command Rate (CMD) ................ 1 AUTO << Set 1T, should be fine as you are using it now, it would cause errors not slow things down if it didn't work.

    ##Channel A Misc Timing Control##
Round Trip Latency ................... 50 AUTO

    Advanced Voltage Control:

    CPU
    Load Line Calibration ................. [Disabled]
    CPU Vcore ............................... 1.25000V AUTO
    QPI/VTT Voltage ............ 1.200V AUTO << Set 1.2-1.3
    CPU PLL ....................... 1.800 AUTO

    MCH/ICH
    PCIE ........................... 1.500V AUTO
    QPI PLL ....................... 1.100v AUTO
    IOH Core ..................... 1.100v AUTO << 1.14-1.24 can help
    ICH I/O ....................... 1.500v AUTO
    ICH Core ........................ 1.100v AUTO

    DRAM
    DRAM Voltage .............. 1.500v AUTO << Set 1.5-1.55
    DRAM Termination ..... 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-A Data VRef. ..... 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-B Data VRef. ..... 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-C Data VRef. ..... 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-A Address VRef. ..... 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-B Address VRef. ..... 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-C Address VRef. ..... 0.750v [AUTO]
