    Default gigabyte p43 e3sg new build problem

    hi, have just put together a new build using a gigabyte p43 es3g m/b.
    all components are new. the problem is when i power up the rig it just cycles through a restart all of the time and will not run continually... any help appreciated

    Please provide more information on your sys tem, add your sustem specs to your signature, MB(+revision), CPU, RAM(link to specification, amount), etc.
    For now try to use just one memory stick(if you are using 2 or more) and clear CMOS for 30 minutes as explained in the second part of this post. Try one stick in any of the slots (also different sticks)

    thanks for reply... the system specs is as follows
    cpu-pentium core2 duo quad q9400 2.66ghz
    memory 4gig -corsair xms2 ddr2 800mhz
    graphics card- xfx nvidia 260gtx
    power supply- ocz stealth xstream 700watt
    motherboard rev 1.0
    cant tell what the bios is as it wont stay powered on for more than about 3 seconds

    hi again, have tried the above but is still the same... also ive noticed the atx 12v 4 pin block cable is not on the power supply.... is it the cpu1 or cpu2 that plugs into the atx 12v on the motherboard ?

    The ATX_12V is a must, yes it's the CPU power.
    I see in the PSU specs it has 1 x 4+4 pin CPU, you should be able yo split it.

    You MUST connect the ATX 12V CPU Cable, if your PSU only has 4 pin, or board only allows 4 pin, then plug in the CPU 1 cable. Don't worry, it will only fit one way and only one of the plugs will go into the slot so you cannot get it wrong.

    Just be sure you use one labeled CPU and not GFX and you will be fine

    ok have everything connected correctly but still the problem persists. think im gonna try another mb just to eliminate component failure. thanks to all who have replied

    ok ive got some ocz memory in another build i done a few months back.

    ok, tried different memory. still the same..
    graphics card tested in different rig and ok.
    now im gonna test cpu and power supply also in a different rig just to eliminate them.
