Default 'bootmgr is missing. Press ctrl - alt - del to restart'

    Screwed newb...

I deleted stuff from my SSD to make room and deleted something I wasn't supposed to.

So now I'm trying to reinstall or repair W7 from the dvd but, when asked to press any key to start from dvd, nothing happens and then I get the message:
'bootmgr is missing. Press ctrl - alt - del to restart'.

It's then stuck there and I have to hit the switch to turn it off.

I can enter bios or boot menu.

I used optimized settings, boot from cdrom.

    Help !!!

Have you checked and cleaned the dvd? You may want to try shutting down. Then unplug the power cord. While it is unpluuged hold the case power switch in for 30 seconds. Now plug the cord back in. Now check the DVD for dust wipe it off. Start it up again and press the F-12 key repeatedly for the boot menu as you would the delete key to enter the bios. Put the DVD back in. The F12 key should give you a boot menu to select the boot option then choose where the DVD is.

If you are using USB keyboard see that USB Keyboard Function is enabled in Integrated Peripherals.

You need to clear the memory turn off the system and unplug it. Hold the power switch in for 30 seconds. Make sure you clean the dvd., and yes go into bios and enable the keyboard function. It's in Integrated Peripherals.

Sounds to me like your install might just be ok, unless you know you deleted something you shouldn't have?

Are you wanting to do a clean install, or try to save the current one? If you are trying to save, you should be able to boot to the DVD and choose repair and then get to the command prompt.

Then all you need to do is rebuild the BCD Store, here's how:
    http://www.ehow.com/how_5472680_rebuild-bcd.html

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392

This error is also sometimes shown if you have incorrect BIOS settings, did you change anything in the BIOS? If so tell us what you originally had your disk setup as (AHCI/IDE/RAID) and we can then tell you what you need to change back. If this is the case, and you were not using RAID, it is a simple fix and you would be back in the system as soon as you changed the setting back to what it needs to be.

If that is the case, and you are unsure of what settings you need, then please tell us what you were using AHCI/IDE and give us your current settings for the following and we will advise back. Also let us know what port (Color and #) you have your OS Disk connected to.

    Intel Controller (Blue Ports)
eXtreme Hard Drive (Intel ICH10R Chipset) ........................
ICH SATA Control Mode (Intel ICH10R Chipset) .....................
SATA Port0-3 Native Mode (Intel ICH10R South Bridge) .............

    Yes,yes,yes!!!!!!!!!!

That was it, the usb keyboard and usb mouse was disabled.
Reinstalled W7, good to go !!!

Lsdmeasap, no I did not touch nothing to the bios, this is a few weeks old build and I dont know enough (as you can see) to mess around the bios yet, used optimized settings, ahci for the SSD and that was it.

    THANKS for the help !!!!
