Default Ballistix unstable at rated speed

hey all. I've been battling BSODs for quite some time now and to be honest I'm just about to give up.

    System:
    Gigabyte EP45-UD3P
    4 gig of Ballistix 1066 RAM BL2KIT12864AA106A - 2GB kit (1GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM , DDR2 PC2-8500 from Crucial.comUS
    Intel C2D E6750
    600W PSU

I started having problems a few months ago and had the RAM replaced 2 times. Still getting errors I swapped motherboards, still errors, I went after the PSU and still found more errors. I upped the voltage on the memory to 2.16V in BIOS and it said 2.1V on the PC health tab and I was stable for a month. I thought I had the system all buttoned down and stable when I came home and found a BSOD. Things have gone down hill quickly and over the past few days I've had over 30 BSOD events. They all come back with some kind of memory corruption error and sure enough I run memtest and get errors out the wazoo.

    Looked through my settings

    Code:

    Thanks!

Interesting observation. I was noticing that while watching video in the zune media player that it was skipping a lot. Now that I'm running at 800 MHz no skipping.

I have Ballistix 1066 RAM as well (the new ones), I and too have problems with bsod and other. Do you have the new version of BL2KIT12864AA80A - 2GB kit (1GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM , DDR2 PC2-6400 from Crucial.comUS
that wants 1.9-2.0v instead of before 2.2v? I had the old ones before and all was ****ed! with the new ones it's less ****ed. P35 chipset and these RAM don't seem to work good. Especially if you have 1GB sticks.

Oh, and I never been able to run them at 1066MHz 991MHz is max for me.

Yes I'm running new sticks that want 2.0v instead of the older 2.2v. I started with sticks that wanted 2.2, but those have since been sent in for RMA.

Sounds like I might have to switch over to another company, joy... Always liked dealing with crucial, but if I can't get these sticks to work what's the point?

These should work fine for your board, I reviews the 800Mhz set which you can read about in my signature if you like.

What BIOS are you using? If it is not the latest that could be part of the problem, aside from the settings I will address below.

If you do update your BIOS please DO NOT USE @BIOS!! Use Qflash or DOS, here is a guide

No good Lsdmeasap. memtest started counting errors during the 2nd test.

I did read the review you posted, figured I could gleen some info from that, but my attempts failed at fixing my problem.

    I've got the latest BIOS

    edit:

Pulled up CPU-Z to see what auto meant on some of the timing

    Try tRFC 58

Also post a screenshot of memset

Could be faulty sticks? Did you test them one by one at stock Manually set speeds and voltages

Are you using Memtest86+ version 4.0 or 4.1 from a bootable CD/DVD or floppy drive?
Did you use ALL of Lsdme's suggested bios settings? It's best if you post the exact bios settings you used. Accuracy is important!
Let us know which test is failing, e.g. pass 0, test #5. It might help us if you post some of the memory addresses that failed.

Try testing with 2x1GB modules in memory slots #1 & #3. If you still get errors, you might need to test with only 1 memory module at a time.

Attached a shot of it in a working configuration EPP#1. I'll go thorugh stick by stick. In the past when I've done that They seem to work and then start to crap out again, which I would think points towards the MCH voltage. I dunno.

4.1 via USB drive. I used all of lsdme's suggestions. I'll keep a better look out as to what test is active when it starts to fail. I'll also use less sticks to see if that makes a difference.

For now, try setting tRD (Static tRead Value) to 7, you can put it back to 6 later.

    OR

The only issue may be tRFC, set to 54-58 and see if that plus proper MCH Voltage correct things or not, if not try the above

    Hey Profjim!!!

Nice to see ya, it's been a while
