Default GIGABYTE GA-880GMA-UD2H AM3, x6 compatible MoBo, will not post.

Unfortunately this is the second the "AMD X6 compatible" Motherboard i have bought, and second as well not to post. The CPU is an amd 1055t.

I followed the manual closely, even connected the RAM in the 3rd & 4th DIMM slots. Computer stays on but won't post. No beeps on the speakers as well. It's a Revision 2.0 mobo as well.

I'm really suspecting it could be the fact that the ram is 1.7v, and in the motherboard manuals it states the dimms as "1.5v dimm slots"

    The asrock 890gx here: Newegg.com - ASRock 890GM PRO3 AM3 AMD 890GX HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Behaved the exact same way. I returned because in the end i never felt comfortable about owning an Asrock.

Please if anyone with extended knowledge in this knows, it would be very appreciated.

    May I offer suggestions?
It sounds to me like you eliminated it being the motherboard causing the issue. Now you will want to check the other components. Is the memory in the QVL list? http://www.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memo...80gma-ud2h.pdf
    Did you test the memory?
Please be sure that the 2x4 12V Power Connector and 2x12 Main Power Connector are fully inserted
Did you test the power supply?
It is possible to get a bad cpu, or it may be damaged due to shipping & or handling. Have you tried changing it?
Did you try an out of case or bench P.O.S.T. Test?

If you were using onboard graphics on both motherboards then it is highly unlikely the GPU is the culprit. If you are using a video card check it too.

I'm sorry i meant to also include the RAM model in the first post.

    Ram is a Patriot PV234G1333LLK
    Newegg.com - Patriot Viper II 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model PV234G1333LLK
    No its not the list.

Nickel stated that the RAM would likely be compatible here in this thread http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/will...22/#post357217

I'm thinking of buying this 1.5v ram here Newegg.com - Patriot Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model PGS34G1333ELK, due to the fact the current ram i have is only eligible for a refund until june 3rd.

Back when i assembled my first computer 5 years ago, the computer would start up and shut off immediately because the CPU's pin was damaged. Yes i used the onboard graphics, and my 8800gt as well.

Before the asrock, i got an MSI 785gm, it refused to post because it needed BIOS 2.5 to recognize amd x6.

I just got this new Antec PSU as well which comes with 8pin cpu connector, and works efficitently on this computer i'm typing this message on right now.

Although this usually would not warrant a no P.O.S.T. it still may cause errors. That Patriot memory is Tested on Intel?P35, P45, X38 and X48 Chipsets
    Patriot Memory - Products
I am leaning more to a damaged cpu being the suspect. You may want to try another compatible cpu.

I would look for memory specifically designed for AMD. That ram is 100% Tested and Verified RoHS Compliant Tested on Intel P45 and X48 chipsets
    Keep searching Newegg has them.
    Check on this memory.---->

I think i'll just return the RAM, since it's 1.7v, no new user review since i bought it on newegg at 5/3, and stated 'intel x58 chipset' on the package.

I'll look into ram that is <=1.65v

I believe they meant 2T where they put 2N (well 2T & 2N pretty much means the same) 1T would be better if you could find it. I know all DDR-1600 will default on auto settings or optimized defaults to 667Mhz DDR3-1333. You should be able to bump the voltage a little and change it to 800Mhz DDR3-1600 though.

Even with the new G.Skill ram i got, the system still behaves the same way.

On the CPU's green PCB, i see something that like clear/colorless glue/ooze on emanating from it.

I hope i can to RMA the processor through AMD.

I wish i could do it through newegg, but the product wouldn't get there with their 30 days return period.

Call Newegg and mention this about the CPU, maybe they can work something out with you.

Be sure to tell them this is clearly NOT CPU thermal paste
