so basically what you are stating is that, "hardware incompatibility = high performance/quality", while "hardware compatibility = inferior".

or "nonfunctioning = good" and "functioning = bad". ok, makes sense.

and you say you're not a fanboy.

i understand the issue with driver/bios updates, but that does not seem to be relevant in this case.

if the cpu was not getting enough power to post it is a problem with the mobo not the psu as this model mobo has this issue with a wide variety of brands of psu as evidenced by the large number of complaining users.

the problem is that i now own a $225 paperweight and i am not made of money. i would like to figure out exactly why, considering it to be true, this board has so many hardware incompatibilities. if i can understand what is the matter with my ga-x58a-ud3r i may be able to build another system with it or advise the person i sell it to on what hardware to use with it.

otherwise i am reluctant to buy more hardware fearing it will not be "high performance enough" to function with a ga-x58a-ud3r. i also refuse to pass the buck onto someone else by selling them what i am at the moment forced to consider as being a defective product.

so there are my problems. a solution would be to find detailed technical information explaining the reasons for hardware incompatibilities. do you have any suggestions as to where i can find this information?

other than emailing gigabyte and explaining your situation i dont know what else you can do,if they tested it and found it working then they would have used different ram/psu to you so that would be a good place to start i certainly wouldnt give up on getting it working, you can always buy cheaper dual channel ram and a cheap 920 C0 chip off ebay

thats another problem. i did email customer service and asked them what hardware they used to test and about incompatabilities and they told me to call the polite but useless indian tech support team. its like they have me running in circles.

Thanks Wazza300, I will try the power supply on another comp but I feel its probably the mobo, hopefully they'll let me do a straight exchange this morning - and hopefully that fixes it.

Cool Re: My turn - X58A-UD3R first boot issues

So it was indeed a bung board. Wasted 4 hours scratching my head, started an internet flame war and then had to wait 4 days for a replacement.
Haven't had an issue since and really happy with the board now its working.
