    Default Posting question

I have a GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard that won't post. I currently have three sticks of ram, my video card, power, reset, h.d.d. leds, h.d. sound, and cpu cooler installed. I also have my monitor and keyboard hooked up.

    1) Took out my video card: no beep

    2) Took out all my ram: no beep

This is all I have done so far. What should I do?

Also: my Antec 902 did not come with a speaker led. It came with one that said "HD audio" and one that said "AC 97". I plugged in the HD audio.

you will need a case speaker connected to the front panel connectors to here the beeps... What Cpu are you using? if its the i7-980x you will need a i7-920 to boot and update the bios. Check make sure all psu plugs going to mother board are firmly plugged in. try booting with 1 stick of ram in one slot. For a cheep speaker you can pick one up at radio shack thats what i did.

Please list your full system specs in your sig with a link to your ram.

Also, I did try booting with just one stick of ram just now...the display won't come on in my monitor. Everything else seems okay, though.

I do have some speakers...what do you mean by "connect it to the front panel"? Do you mean the speaker jack?

    I have the i7-930.

    Thanks-sorry again for the accidental double-post :)

No... the arear on the motherboard that you connected the power button power light hdd light and stuff... There are 2 pins marked Speaker... There is where the case speaker would plug into. Not the "HD audio" and one that said "AC 97". They are plug into another spot on the motherboard.

It sounds like a video card problem.. Try resetting video card and make sure the power cord(s) are plug in. Is the fan spining on the video card when you try to boot?

There are two different revisions of the GA-X58A-UD3R:
(rev.1.0) requires a BIOS update for the Core i7-930 to F4.

(rev.2.0) no BIOS update required for the Core i7-930.

there are users who have had problems with g-skill ram,do what reggie says first and check what revision mb you have,it should be printed on mb or on the box,the hd audio plugs into a socket on the mb,the mb speaker plugs on two pins at the bottom where you plug your hdd activity light and front panel power button ect

Thanks for all the replies :)

    It is rev. 2.0.

The video card fan runs fine.

My case did not come with a speaker plug. Only the ones that I mentioned. I looked on the manual, and it only showed the three that I have, so I know I'm not missing it. I have an antec 902. Is this bad?

Just so everyone knows...my computer loads into BIOS just fine...everything normal for first boot besides the absence of the beep. Is it always required for a mobo to beep, or are there situations where it would tell you another way that everything is fine?

it should only beep if theres an error,im thinking it might be your ram, what bios are you using? if you can get to the bios then please flash to the latest bios using q-flash,read on how to do it on the main page flashing guide, chances are newer bios will support your ram better

You would have to have a case speaker connected to hear ANY beeps, this speaker connects in the same place as the front panel power switches, HD Led, ect.

If you are not connecting one there then you will not have any beeps.

They look like this, you can also order one here and it is the cheapest place I know that will not over charge you for shipping, they ship quick too

Are you setting your memory voltage and QPI voltage manually? This is something you need to do, set uncore multi manually as well to 2x memory multi or 1-2 above that.
