    Default Gigabyte X58A-UD3R 2.0

While I can enter the 'Intelligent tweaker' portion of the BIOS, if I try to use the arrow keys to select any options, the machine hangs.

This is a serious problem as I cannot set my CPU speed or disable EIST etc.

Is this MB incompatible with the 980x by any chance and will there be a bios update to address this?

are you using usb keyboard/mouse or ps2?? makesure you select the right option in bios,or try with ps2 keyboard if your using usb and it hangs, the 980x will need a bios update for older mb's,i cant say for that board as its new, there is a first release bios on gigabytes website

Nice to see you got this solved!

I don't know why they have USB devices disabled by default, it's 2010 they should change this already!

    Right! Surely that is possible!

I do think though with USB enabled, PS/2 still works fine so not sure why this is not the default

What's annoying is why the USB keyboard works absolutely fine throughout the whole BIOS except when I enter the 'tweaker' section

Hopefully a new BIOS will sort that out. I tried several USB keyboards and slots and they always froze the PC whenever I tried to go into the 'tweaker' section.

best to pick up a cheap usb to ps2 adaptor that way you can use both settings if the bios ever gets reset or your fond of using your usb keyboard, but yeah a future bios should fix it,you might even want to fill out an error report to gigabyte telling them what brand of keyboard your having trouble with and they might send you a revised bios
