    Frozen again :/

    Vcore : normal (1.206v~)
    DVID: +0.075v
    QPI/VTT: 1.200v

    C1E: Off
    C3/C6: On
    Turbo: On
    EIST: On

    bclk: 160mhz
    PCH Normal
    CPU PLL Normal
    DRAM: 1.6v AND/OR 1.5v (no diff)
    1600mhz 9-9-9-24
    performance enhance : Turbo

    LLC : Disable

It seems to freeze when ANY of the board's power management features are enabled:
    LLC off + Turbo/C3/C6 = freezes
    No Turbo/C3/C6 + LLC = freezes
Turbo/C3/C6 Off + LLC off = No Freezes
EIST on/off does not appear to have an effect (has frozen both with & without)

I'm baffled at this point, wondering how the hell both the original & RMA replacement Mobo AND CPUs ive tried cannot handle standard intel spec'd turbo boost using RAM on the QVL list?
Did I pick a lemon of a motherboard model or something? Turbo boost @ stock clockspeeds doesn't seem like too much to expect from brand new & qualified parts....

Is there any way to get an RMA for a different model mobo? I mean... I guess I could live without Turbo, LLC, EIST and C-states, but it will significantly increase power consumption.

performance enhance : Turbo needs to be on standard,my board doesnt like turbo or extreme, its stable on standard though,
and c states shouldnt affect anything really, you could loosen ram timings to 9-9-9-26 and see if it helps

It has also frozen on enhance: standard
nothing I've done to the RAM has changed anything yet (voltage 1.5-1.62v, 1333 vs 1600mhz, etc...)
IIRC I had it at 9-9-9-28 at one point without fixing it

Oh, theres a late edit to my above post, wasn't expecting such a speedy reply :P

if youve rma'd the mb and cpu then it only leaves ram, whats the rated voltage for it? set to 1.66 if its rated at 1.65 and 1.5v maybe 1.52 if its rated at 1.5v,try with just 2gb installed and see if it still freezes with c states enabled and turbo then you will know its either ram settings or qpi settings or the ram itself

The RAM is rated for 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 1.5v
    I've tried it at 1.5v, Auto, 1.54v, 1.56v, 1.6v, 1.62v
I've tried just a single stick (tried both sticks solo)
I've tried the known working 2x2GB kit of g.skill 1600mhz RAM I mentioned a few pages back (swapped with my old P55-UD3R build) with a variety of voltages/timings
All with no solution to the freezing

    I've tried QPI/VTT of 1.10, 1.15v, 1.19v and 1.21v (higher seems pointless for 2x2gb)

edit: frozen at the 9-9-9-26 & performance enhance : Standard you recommended above

ive just been reading through all the posts, why dont you try booting up in safe mode and using driver sweeper to fully un-install the nvidia drivers and then boot up nomally and re-install them, next fully clear the cmos by removing the mb battery for 30mins and then put back in and load optimized defaults and set you ram voltage/timings manually and see if it freezes

it could be the cmos is slightly corrupted

just google for driver sweeper and download it

I've managed to determine the freezing is entirely OS independent :/

It freezes with a full set of the latest drivers & windows updates
it freezes with an entirely fresh install of Win7 x64 left alone at desktop on very first boot (no drivers, no win7 updates, nothing)
It has frozen at the "Please enter your desired Username" screen at the end of a win7 installation
it has frozen in safe mode
It has frozen when booted into Snow Leopard (Mac OSX 10.6.4)

I'll try removing the CMOS battery next, altho since this is motherboard #2 it seems unlikely to be the solution

try cmos first as any crash can corrupt it,sorry i forgot you replaced the chip allready

CMOS battery left out for 45min, loaded optimized defaults, enabled turbo/Cstates/EIST, switched to AHCI/enabled smart, set RAM to 1.5v, 8-8-8-24 (timings for 1333mhz)

    will see how it is

hope it works,if not then do the same but leave it out overnight, sometimes you have to leave it overnight to fully clear it
