    augh, frozen again

I noticed something tho... it seems that its not a 100% solid freeze, just 99.9%
on the first freeze after CMOS removal I moved the mouse around & noticed it frozen, then walked away in frustration, and a few min later I noticed the cursor had shifted across the screen, another ~1min later the cursor had shifted to the spinning "busy" cursor", another 5~ min and the cursor had shifted position

I had CPU-Z/HWmonitor open @ the time, and it showed it apparently frozen at the x9 multi & low voltage as if theres no activity

I just tried pressing ctrl-alt-del a few times, and now the screen appears frozen @ a black screen, will edit & update when something changes?
Edit: Some sort of error about the Login process failing/being unable to launch security & login options in response to the Ctrl-Alt-Del command has showed up after 10min? lol

do you have any blue screens with any codes? or is it just a random freeze and black screen? do you have a spare psu to try with??

I saw one BSOD early on, but IIRC i'd done something wrong w drivers at the time, and it hasn't reuccured

Ive checked the event log, and all I see are very generic looking 'system has been powered off improperly' or something to that effect events that seem to be from the hard reset, not what happened prior :/

Yeah, it seems to become virtually/entirely unresponsive randomly when under idle/low/medium load (It hasn't frozen when stress testing yet)
sometimes within 5min of boot, other times it'll last for hours :/

already tried a 2nd identical PSU, and a 650w rosewell PSU in case 500w somehow wasn't enuff

seemslike the c-states are causing it to freeze then when its being powered down, either the cpu or your gpu if that has power saving modes, you could test with c1e and c3/c7 and eist disabled and see if it makes a difference,or a slight tweak with dvid adding slight voltage, tried with llc enabled?

Optimized Defaults (all on) = freezes
    LLC off + Turbo/C3/C6/C1E/EIST on = freezes
    LLC off + Turbo/C3/C6/EIST on, C1E off = freezes
    No Turbo/C3/C6/C1E/EIST + LLC On = freezes
Turbo/C3/C6/C1E/EIST Off + LLC off = No Freezes!

There may be some combinations I haven't tried, lol?
Am I right in thinking that turbo requires C3/C6? any other dependencies I should know of?

I've thrown what seems to be near unsafe levels of voltage at it using DVID (I saw 1.334v~ in HWmonitor during a turbo boost spike @ one point) without solving it :/

I'm almost ready to just give it a static overclock with LLC & everything else disabled and be done with it, but I don't wanna give up, this POS should be able to run at factory spec....

did you set this to high performance? if its on balanced it will throttle whether c1e is enabled or disabled

I had it on Balanced. I switched it to high performance, and it still froze a minute or so later

two motherboards in a row, two CPUs, multiple sets of RAM, PSUs, diff OS'es, drives, etc...

I've already went well beyond what is reasonable for building a machine from popular, supposedly well supported components without success....
I don't think C states or stock frequency turbo boost are too much to ask for... Where do I go from here?
