you said it froze less with ur older gpu, think it could be that? if you cant fix it i would just sell each component and start again, maybe with a diff brand mb this time, diff ram/psu ect, somethings either faulty or youve had bad luck picking up two or more faulty items

grab a oc template from lsdmeasap sig for your board n fill it in n ill take a look

having the uncore freq and ioh core locked out on that board doesnt help either

I don't believe so, since then I've rotated graphics cards through it a couple times without any noticeable change to the freezing
the GTS 250 that originally was for this build is in the machine I gave to the client I was building this rig for, the 9600GSO i tested with for a few weeks afterwards is now sold, and its running a ATI 4850 now
I suspect I simply didn't test long enough with the older cards the first time round (impatience)

The fact that turning on turbo, C states and/or LLC causes crashes and +0.08v DVID does nothing makes me suspect the culprit is the motherboard's power management moreso than the CPU.

I suppose today's experiment should be swapping this i5-750 with the i5-750 that's been stable in a P55-UD3R for the past ~10 months and see which machine freezes.

Hmm... is it possible to down-flash motherboard BIOS versions? try something prior to F10 perhaps?

yes do that, its free test and will tell you roughly whether the cpu or mb is likely causing freeze ups

Yes you can down-flash the BIOS if you want, just use Qflash and disable Keep DMI Data and flash and BIOS you want that supports your CPU

How about C1E and EIST disabled (C3/C6 Also), and do not use DVID either use Auto Vcore or set a value you know works - does that freeze?

    Ok....
I'm entirely baffled at this point.

I swapped the i5 750's between this new freezing build and my year old stable P55-UD3R build and BOTH appear entirely stable now...
I've tried all sorts of BIOS changes on both machines attempting to trigger a freeze without success. I've currently got both running with turbo boost/EIST/LLC/all Cstates On, the P55M-UD2 at 160bclk, the old P55-UD3R @ auto (133 bclk) and both have been up a full 5 days now...

I don't get it... I'd already replaced the i5-750 with the brand new intel RMA one without changing the issue... I don't understand how simply swapping the CPUs between boards has solved the freezing unless its some sort of P55M-UD2 related compatibility problem w brand new i5 750s

sometimes just re-seating the cpu and heatsink can fix things,i found a human hair once in my cpu socket, that cant be good, maybe the ram and that perticular cpu or psu are more suited?? idk but glad you seem to have fixed things, time will tell(fingers crossed)

Cannot have been simply the re-seat, since I'd reseated when I swapped heatsinks early on, when I benched the mobo, as well as installing the RMA CPU
I did once have missing RAM on the i5/UD3R build once that was solved by a reseat tho (a dust bunny in with the pins lol)

At this point I'm just happy they're stable, although I'm certain the issue is the P55M-UD2 with the pair of brand new (high VID perhaps?) i5-750s, since I've played musical chairs with RAM & PSUs till I drove myself nuts :P

At this point I'm slowly lowering voltages to see just how much +DVID I need for 160bclk w turbo & Cstates, all while doing long term idling & stress testing

ive had problems with ram and boot loops due to the heatsink being on too tight, fixed by reseating cpu and heatsink,im only going off what ive experienced, same for missing ram,did you rma that board for a new one? did they replace it?

I sent the CPU & Mobo back to the shop, they did 2hr of Linpack, told me it was stable, but when pressed offered to & replaced the mobo (P55M-UD2)
but.... no change to the freezes with the replacement board

All I can think of is to avoid the P55M-UD2 and/or entry lvl gigabyte boards in future builds? :/

did you ask what type of psu/ram they tested with? between the two mb's what brands of ram and psu do they both have and what brands were in the freezing mb and the stable one? you get problems with any mb no matter what manufacturer, some you have no issues at all some are a pain

+ your older mb will have a more mature bios, better memory support ect
