    Default Overcklocking P55A-UD4

    Hi all,
First I've to confess that I'm a complete noob in terms of overclocking.
So my questions are basic, I think.
So first here is my rig:
    I5-750, P55A-UD4, Gskill Ripjaw F3-12800CL7D 4GB, 3 Hardisks Western Digital, Asus ATI 4890, PSU LC-Power 700W, Antec Plus 1080 case, Artic Cooler 7 pro rev.2, Windows 7 (x64)
I'm trying, for now, to Overclock to 3.2Ghz.
Should I enable the Loadline calibration? I've read that, when overclocking you should have it disabled due dangerous voltage spikes. The fact is with it disable, I've some oscillations (in full load) with the Vcore; I think the technical term is Vdroop, right? Are these Vdroop dangerous to CPU or just can create instability? For example when I lower my Vcore to 1.168 the drop oscillates, in full load, between 1.15 and 1.138. Are these OK?
The only time I don't have any Vdoop is when I set Vcore for 1.184 and enable load line calibration. In this case it's stable from the beginning until the end of the test. Is this an ideal situation?
    I'm using for testing OCCT.

Another "problem" I noticed with OCCT is the 3.3V. When I'm overcloking, I've a ripple of 0.45% when in full load. I've read somewhere that ripples under 5% they aren't cause for concerning. What is your opinion?

What about XMP profile? Should I have it enabled or manually input the values from the memory maker? The XMP profile seems corrected with those values.

    Thanks in advance

set your ram manually it will be better than xmp imo,set bclk to 21x160,uncore freq is two times ram multi then add one to it,qpi/vtt voltages try with 1.25v to start with, dram voltage set according to ram either 1.5v or 1.66 in the bios, set cpu voltage to the normal setting in the voltage list....btw i think uncore freq is locked on those mb's not sure,if so doesnt matter

    Thanks wazza300 for answering.
Sorry but I'm a noob and didn't quite understand what you said. The fault is not yours I assure you. It's me being a noob that didn't get it.
So you're advising me to set the CPU Clock Ratio to 21 and the BCLOCK to 160. Then you want me to set the Vcore to Normal and the qpi/vtt to 1.25v. This will bring more stability, is that so?
    What is the uncore freq?

    Thanks again

i think its locked or greyed out on p55 mb's you should be ok with the other voltages, set to what i said and see how you get on,xmp is just a pre configured profile stored in the ram module youll be able to set your ram yourself usually with lower qpi voltages than with xmp profile

    Sorry one more question.
When I set qpi/vtt voltage to 1.25, the value it appears in magenta, like a warning. Any problem with that?

whats it at currently?? easytune/tuner/advanced/voltage1 it will tell you your current qpi/vtt voltage you can try with 1.20000v

Sorry to keep you waiting I had to install it.
It reads 1.17. Do I have to enable or disable loadline calibration?

thats fine just dont use it to overclock with as it will usually freeze your mb,always overclock from within the bios, you wont need loadline calibration on for 3.2ghz only for 4ghz+,try with 1.20000v or 1.22000v you can always lower it later

There were no options in BIOS for 1.20 or 1.22. So I set 1.23 even being in magenta.
It's running OCCT, but I can see that the vcore voltage is unstable. Values between 1.12 and 1.14.

EDIT: By the way I've never had a single crash in spite of all my tests.

ok try with qpi/vtt two clicks up from 1.17v first, cpu voltage should be fine on its normal setting for 3.2ghz clocks, cpu voltage may drop when under load but not enough to cause it to crash
