Yeah you have AMD AthlonII X2 CPU (supports DDR3-1066) and The memory (PVS34G1333LLK) is tested and compatible with Intel P35, X38 and X48 chipsets, Not tested and compatible for AMD.
We have already contacted Patriot and they suggested getting the memory with an A at the end for AM3 based motherboards. You would want DDR3 memory that is tested and compatible for AMD. You tested it and now you know. Im sorry we tried and it won't work properly for you like that. You will need to run it at 1066Mhz and set the voltege to +2, and timings on auto to get the better stability if you insist on using that CPU and memory combination. Let us know if and when you get a PhenomII CPU or Athlon X3 or X4 CPU and or AM3 compatible memory.

Interesting, the Gigabyte mobo sorts it out on its own for 1066, though.

    I'll just replace this sometime.
Odd that the guys at the store messed that up...

Is there a site/document which gives the details of this type of ram incompatibility?

We have seen it here. The 4GB memory modules you are using should work on the auto settings. It's when you try to raise the settings you will have issues or even if you decide to later ad more memory (4GB to 8GB) you will have problems. Below is a forum with Patriot_Ben also explaining some of this.
Compatibility Issues: Do I have the right memory for my X58, AM3, P55, H55/H57 mobo? - Patriot Memory Support Forums
Also you can ask Patriot Tech support. They will inform you the same.

If you prefer you can call them.
