i think you need to clear the cmos fully and start again if its not letting you adjust the qpi/vtt voltage, keep bclk at stock same for memory usually 1066 is default....clear cmos by removing mb battery for 30mins first, then put back in and load optimized defaults then with 4gb installed see if you can bootup into bios and alter qpi/vtt even try with 1.15-1.19v qpi/vtt

Have had a read here Intel® Core) regarding my chip

Under Memory specifications - Memory Types DDR3-1066/1333

I do notice that there is no mention of 1600. This could be an indication as to why it's freezing during boot when set to 1600.

i think thats just stock memory speed, you can always overclock ram to higher speeds or use higher,i think its not enough qpi/vtt voltage as this relates to the cpu memory controller, same symptoms random freezing/locking up sometimes without a blue screen but its not letting you adjust it so maybe cmos is slightly corrupt?

    here quote for corsair memory

This 4GB twin kit memory solution has been designed specifically to support the Intel Core i5 and Core i7 dual channel memory DDR3 solutions. This solution runs at an incredibly fast 1600MHz at CAS latency of 9-9-9-24. So not only do you get to run your Intel Core i5 or Core i7 dual channel memory system at 1600MHz but with these tight Latency timings your system performance will rock..

it says it supports i5/i7 chips and its 1600mhz so your fine with your ram regarding speed,i dont know about brand

Ya that is just stock spec is all, it may just be your memory is not fully compatible with this board/BIOS. Is it on the QVL or do you know anyone else using it on this board without issues?

Alrighty, picked up a Coolermaster Hyper 212+ this afternoon, will install later tonight and retry some of these settings and hopefully and finally get this PC running stably for the first time.

Install was good, had to do a bit of adjusting to get the back plate on but all is well. Will get some photos this weekend as the inside of the case is looking pretty sweet.

Have a mild overclock going at the moment and is running pretty good.

You hit 80C at 3.3Ghz, with only 1.23V?

Idle temps look good, Load temps do not

What should it hit while under load?

Here's a slightly higher clock from this morning under load didn't quite hit 80'C

I've actually gone back and tried wazza's settings with the 160 BLCK x17, memory at 1600 and set the timings and voltages and still can't get it to not freeze.

Definitely has got to be sometime wrong with the board or memory?
