    Default Overclocking a Core2 Quad Q6600

    Hi there,

I was advised to come here by someone at the Windows7 Forums for some advice on settings and things to use to try and overclock my Intel Core2 Quad Q6600.

My system components are as follows, feel free to ask for any more details:

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-EG45M-DS2H.

    My processor is G0 stepping.

My memory is two 2GB sticks of Corsair XMS2 CM2X2048-6400C5.

I have an Akasa AK-P040FG7 400W power supply.

I have an APLUS CS-CURBIC case with two 180mm fans and one 120mm.

    I run 32bit Windows 7.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Ian

Hey buddy glad you made it over. Just be patient and someone will get to you.

In the meantime have you thought about the CPU cooler mentioned over at seven? If you have the stock cooler you're going to want to get something a little better otherwise you're going to have heating issues.

    Let me know.

    Peace

What speed would you like to run? And what cooler are you currently using since sygnus21 mentions you had been discussing coolers.

What graphics card are you using, just wonder because your PSU seems kinda small so hopefully you aren't using a huge graphics card or that might hinder your overclocking.

According to his post over at seven forums his video card is intergrated? This is what he posted - "Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset" Hmmm.... Does this board (Gigabyte GA-EG45M-DS2H) have an intergrated card?

And yeah, we discussed both CPU cooler and power supply but he can/should provide those answers for you here as requested.

    Thanks.

Yes it would be integrated, but I just assumed he was using a PCIE card instead, if he is not then the PSU wont matter in that aspect of things.

Let him know we have replied here once you see him again, thanks

Haven't seen him around in either forum so.... Who knows, maybe he's awaiting some new parts.

    Thanks
