    Default x58-UD3r Dead?

I have been attempting getting a stable overclock on my i7 920, 6GB OCZ RAM and Gigabyte X58UD3 Revision 1 - F5 Bios.

I loaded optimized defaults and since then I've not been able to overclock at and if I do my system wont post.

I can change settings in various parts of the bios and computer will be fine.

I can change CPU core and DRAM voltage, but if I change any other setting in MIT my computer will switch off after saving then start up and immediatly switch and and this process repeats itself.

When I was overclocking, quite often after saving the computer would seem to then switch off, back on and then start Windows.

I can load Windows on stock M.I.T settings. I have upped my DRAM though to 1.66, but if I change other settings like bclk to settings I know that will load Windows then my system goes into the restart loop I mentioned earlier.

is f5 the latest bios for that board? have you tried clearing the cmos by removing mb battery for 30mins then trying?? what oc are you aiming for? 3.4ghz-3.6ghz ect, setting the cpu voltage,qpi/vtt,dram voltage and timings manually?? its usually a bad setting that causes it to loop untill the bios finds stable/default settings usually followed by a red warning msg when entering the bios

I've used the same setting that's I've used on Windows in terms of overclock options and wont post at all. I pretty much use stock settings and everything is fine. I can play with voltage. Anything else results in failure.

F5 is the latest version for this revision (1.0).

I can get system to post with voltage changes, but any change to other settings result in post failure and only startr windows in stock settings mode. I have used these below settings few days ago and had no problem getting system to post and load windows. I have tried them again and post failure.

    my memory is 9.9.9.20 timings.

CPU-z and BIOS shows this as: 8.8.8.19

memory is running below stock frequency at 1200 and not 1333mhz

you shouldnt leave qpi/vtt voltage on auto, esp with 20 or 21x inc turbo and 200 bclk, take a look in easytune/tuner/advanced/voltage 1 and see what auto is setting qpi/vtt at,if its higher than 1.4v try lowering it,is the Uncore Frequency .......................... (12)) <-- auto or manual?? set to manual for now

you only set the uncore freq if you set your ram multiplier manually, and the guide is 2x your ram multiplier or 2x then add one or add two to it so 8x ram multi will be 16,17 or 18x uncore freq, have you removed mb battery for 30mins and start again?? it could be corrupted cmos?

Sorry, ram can be set to X6 when I try to overclock using bios. Still failure.

Only stock settings with the addition of voltage changes enable me to post.

I have removed the battery for 1 minute as stated in the instruction booklet.

sometimes it takes longer to clear it 30mins, sometimes overnight, try that first then move on to other things, unplug the ram modules and plug them back in with power off and makesure there fully seated, same for power cables, hdd cables ect.......... what brand/wattage psu are you using?
